NBA fans call out New York Knicks players dapping up Draymond Green amid his Karl-Anthony Towns standoff
Knicks teammates' nonchalance towards Karl-Anthony Towns' grudge with Draymond Green generally did not sit right with NBA Twitter

Draymond Green, Karl-Anthony Towns
Draymond Green invited his latest controversy amid a long line of them recently after talking about Karl-Anthony Towns in a demeaning manner. The Knicks center was coping with his girlfriend losing a close friend to cancer and missed their Madison Square Garden game against the Warriors to give her company. Green asserted that his absence was, in fact, due to him ‘dodging’ Jimmy Butler.
However, when he learned of the reality, the former Defensive Player of the Year continued to act in a classless manner. Green needlessly antagonized KAT by issuing a statement of ‘apology’ while not actually apologizing for his words. The Warriors star even found the temerity to promote his podcast show with Baron Davis instead of issuing an unflinching apology.
Oh man, that’s unfortunate. I’m sorry to hear that. That sucks. But my comments that I made was what I heard, was this and that’s what I heard. So I do send my well wishes to him and his family. It’s inevitable. “But the ‘Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis’ must go on. I definitely wish him well and wish their family well in grieving because we all go through that and it’s never easy for anyone. But the ‘Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis’ will go on.
Draymond Green commented as his apology
Green made the optics around this considerably worse after their reverse fixture last night by hinting that Towns played ‘the most physical he’d ever played against the Warriors’. He insinuated that this toughness came because of his vendetta against Green and his wish to give Green payback for his rude comments.
That was fun. Really fun. It was good to see KAT play like that. Probably the most physical I’ve ever seen him. Had a little extra motivation so that made the game fun.
Draymond Green said during his postgame media interaction
Antagonizing an opponent needlessly and then continuing to needle them despite the entire fault being his own is something that many people consider to be par for the course for Draymond at this juncture of his career. However, basketball fans were aghast when they saw how KAT‘s Knicks teammates seemingly didn’t have his back during postgame.
NBA fans chew out New York Knicks players for buddying up with Draymond Green
Quite a few New York Knicks players went up to Draymond of their own accord and dapped him up, embraced him and showed a positive attitude overall towards the opponent following their road loss at Chase Center. These players included the likes of Mikal Bridges, Mitchell Robinson, OG Anunoby, and even Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau.
This nonchalance towards Karl-Anthony Towns‘ personal issues generally did not sit right with commenters on NBA Twitter. A few fans noted how KAT and his Timberwolves teammates boycotted the Inside the NBA crew after Shaquille O’Neal and the Warriors star had antagonized Rudy Gobert.
Truly might be looking too deep into this, but a good chunk of Knicks players dapping up Draymond post game is not a good look

I remember during the Playoffs the Wolves boycotted TNT after their comments about Gobert
Feel for KAT in that moment ❤️

Not looking too deep into it. If a player disrespects your teammate on a personal level and then doesent apologize genuinely your not cool with them especially with KAT seeing that

they don't deserve KAT and I cant stand that donkey

This still has my blood boiling. Stick by your teammate and follow him to the locker room.

A fan also urged team leaders Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart to bring their teammates into line and stick by KAT while his feud with an active opponent transpires.
@jalenbrunson1 @joshhart tell these soft dudes not to do this again and look after their teammate

Im not even a Knicks fan but seeing this shit made me mad, u supposed to ride for your teamates bro thats just so lame
— lag (@lagsokilled) March 16, 2025
However, a few fans also fell on the side of the sentiment of ‘it’s not too deep.’
The players not being nearly as emotional as the fans are would be my first guess when assessing this video.

Ultimately, the choice lies with Towns’ teammates and how far they wish to go in support of their teammate. However, not having a teammate’s back, especially after the kind of vitriol Green served up to Towns, does make for bad optics in neutral fans’ eyes. One would hope that the locker room displays its tight-knit unity in the rest of the season.
