“They already chose Tobias Harris over him” – NBA fans lose it as reports suggest Sixers wanting Jimmy Butler back after playoffs exit
Jimmy Butler played for the Philadelphia 76ers for only one year.
The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in Jimmy Butler.
The Philadelphia 76er’s downfall in the first round of playoffs has pushed the team to make some significant changes in their roster. In hopes of winning a championship next year, the team is already looking to retrieve Jimmy Butler in the upcoming season.
Jimmy Butler was in Philly for just one year but now it seems like the team is regretting their decision of not extending his contract. NBA insider Brian Windhorst recently revealed on ESPN’s Get Up that the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to monitor Butler’s situation with his contract with the Miami Heat.
Butler had a huge upgrade with the Heat and is on the verge of becoming the face of the franchise in the modern era. Despite not winning a title the star’s impact on the team has brought the Heat closer to the championship several times in the last few years, including one conference and two NBA finals.
On the other hand, the former MVP Joel Embiid has not made it to a single conference final since his joining. The team has been unable to go past the second round since 2001. Hence, it seems like the team was left with no choice but to recruit Butler again. After witnessing the team’s consecutive losses it was impossible for the fans to not troll the Sixers.
NBA fans came at the Sixers after Jimmy Butler rumors
After yet another first-round exit, the Sixers have faced a lot of backlash for their consistent losses in the postseason. Hence, the news about the team wanting Butler immediately after the loss against the Knicks has only added fuel to the fire.
From Embiid being the only MVP to not reach the NBA finals to the Sixers signing the scoreless Tobias Harris instead of Butler, NBA fans criticized the team’s every move on social media. Here’s what fans had to say about the team’s desire to recruit Butler.
As he got his MCL injured just before the playoffs started, Butler has had a tough season with the Heat. The 34-year-old was unable to get into the ‘Playoff Jimmy’ persona which cost the team a 4-1 loss against Boston. Only time will tell if the star decides to redeem himself with the Heat or take his chances by going back to Philly.
