But just to be clear, Delonte West isn’t necessarily ready to play high-level basketball again, the Big 3 is a very promising place for him to continue to get his life back on track. His NBA career lasted eight seasons, four of which came with the Boston Celtics.
The veteran spent three seasons alongside LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers and had brief stints on the Dallas Mavericks and Seattle Supersonics. He averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists and shot 37.2 percent on 3-pointers in 432 career games. Amid a brutal fight with drug abuse and mental illness, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped West get back on track by reuniting him with his mother and admitting him to a rehabilitation facility. Even though he got in trouble with law enforcement a few months ago, his life is much more stable now.
On one hand where some of the peers of West have made a great name for themselves in the illustrious basketball league, he has been out for a while. Nothing to be ashamed off, but just to see his commitment to get back to professional basketball seems to be winning hearts of NBA and hoop fans all over the country.
With the 2021-22 NBA season reaching its business end, with just over a month to go, hopefully we can witness Delonte West on the side-lines as well, watching the sport that he dearly loved and will always do.
