To those who are not aware Gerald Green joined his native franchise, Houston Rockets in 2017 yet he hasn’t been a part of the action on court since the 2018-19 season, courtesy to an injury. The 35-years-old has played two seasons in the iconic red jersey and was also a part of the Rockets’ serious run deep into the playoff led by Chris Paul and James Harden

Safe to say Gerald Green could contribute more in the Rockets by being in the coaching staff than he has done by playing on the court. Given that the Houston Rockets has three athletic shooting guards in Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green and Josh Christopher for Green to develop. In addition, they franchise also contains big youngsters like Alperen Sengun and Usman Garuba.

“I know when all this is over, I’m probably going to go to the bathroom and cry like a baby… I sleep, eat, breathe Houston. It’s all over my body. I may be the only coach with tattoos like this,” Gerald Green told the media during retirement announcement.

Now that Gerald Green retires, let us look upon his career stats. He has spent 12 seasons playing in the NBA and during that course, Green has represented 8 different teams. He might not be the best shooting guard, yet Gerald Green was one of the most idealistic dunkers in the league during his days. He averaged just less than 10 points per game. Having played 658 games, Green started in 118 of them. Lastly, he was also a McDonald’s All American and was drafted 18th overall in the 2005 draft straight out of high school.
