Sophomore Jalen Smith had a career night as the Phoenix Suns continue their league-dominating campaign with a 34-point blowout victory over the Charlotte Hornets on road. The Suns defeated the Hornets 133-99 and improve their season record to 28-8, 2nd best in the NBA.
For the Suns, Devin Booker scored 24 points and Jalen Smith added 19, his career-high. All the Suns’ starters scored in double digits except for Chris Paul. But Paul more than made up for it by dishing out 16 assists in the game. The Suns were also missing their key pieces in Deandre Ayton and Jae Crowder. Landry Shamet, Bismack Biyombo and Cam Payne also contributed off the bench.

Jalen Smith put Mason Plumlee on a poster
The highlight of the game was the dunk by Jalen Smith over Mason Plumlee. In the 3rd quarter of the game, with Phoenix Suns with a comfortable lead of 25 points, Smith took off to jam the ball.
Chris Paul penetrated in the driving lane. Seeing the two-man traffic, Paul smartly dished out the ball off a bounce pass to Jalen Smith who then didn’t hesitate to make the leap. Smith made a monster dunk, putting Mason Plumlee on the poster.

Smith is currently into his second year in the league. He was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 2020 NBA Draft as the 10th overall pick. Smith is a 6-foot-10 with a wingspan of 7-foot-1. He is known for his rebounding skills, thanks to his 9-foot-2 vertical leap capacity. He is also an above-average ball-handler which is rare for a Power Forward.
