“Gave up once again” Twitter trolls Russell Westbrook after Carmelo Anthony loses all hope in him due to worn out defensive effort
Russell Westbrook
This season has been a rollercoaster of a ride for the Los Angeles Lakers team after battling it out with a number of freak accidents ending in injuries and even the pandemic. They are currently fighting to keep themselves among the top eight in the Western Conference with a record of 25 wins and 28 losses.
This team has one of the most superstar-heavy rosters in modern NBA history but has still struggled to stay at the top. Why? A tiny part of it may be because of age. Despite having a great and experienced roster, they are the oldest team in the league right now.
After having a majority of their players out due to health and safety protocols or injuries, the Lakers were left with Russell Westbrook to lead the way as he has before on other teams. But Brodie has not been able to produce as much as he used to be able to.
Russell Westbrook has become a lazy basketball player
This season, the negative sides of the stat line have been on an all-time high for Russell Westbrook. The player has been very decent numbers at best leaving the Lakers stranded at times. Westbrook was a player that averaged 27.2 points with 7.9 rebounds and 7 assists with 47.2% shooting and this is the first time in 10 years that he is averaging below 20 points.
To give credit where it is due, the point guard has had a fair share of bright moments finishing games with turnovers lesser or equal to one per game. Against the Charlotte Hornets, he concluded the game with 35 points shooting 12 of 23 attempts from the field as well as 4 rebounds and 5 rebounds.
With so much potential, Westbrook could easily take over and lead the Lakers towards another ring. Missing open layups, open threes, low IQ passing, and lazy defense would not work. Here are some reactions of fans following his incredible 35 point second half.
Fans troll Russel Westbrook on Twitter for poor performance against the Clippers
Being on the court fighting against equally talented players is not a joke. The situation could escalate at any moment and you would be required to think quickly. But this video would tell you otherwise as Carmelo Anthony looked seemingly frustrated at Westbrook’s performance blocking a shot off the board.
