Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo often nicknamed the “Greek Freak” is the anchor player for the Milwaukee Bucks. Due to his being built like a Greek God he rightly justifies the title given to him. The massive Greek player stands at 6’11 but is now listed at 7’0. Since the Bucks selected Giannis Antetokounmpo with the fifteenth pick overall in the 2013 NBA Draft, he has experienced a growth surge. At 6’9, Antetokounmpo was selected.

Antetokounmpo’s sheer strength, height, and skills make a deadly combination. The same combination led the Bucks to their first-ever NBA finals in 47 years and a subsequent championship in 2021. At 26 years and 226 days, he is the youngest Finals MVP since Kawhi Leonard in 2014 and the first European since Dirk Nowitzki in 2011. As the only players to have earned the MVP, Finals MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year trophies over the course of their careers, Antetokounmpo also joined Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon in that club the same year.

Recently Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 55 points in a 123-113 victory over the Washington Wizards, adding 10 rebounds and seven assists. The following night, in a 104-101 overtime victory over the Toronto Raptors, Antetokounmpo recorded his 31st triple-double of his professional career with 30 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists.

On the list of the NBA’s all-time triple-double performers, he shared 15th position with Draymond Green and John Havlicek. In addition, Antetokounmpo became the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1972 to record 200+ points, 80+ rebounds, and 30+ assists in a stretch of five games.

At the heart of his competition with James Harden was Giannis Antetokounmpo’s height. Due to a rumored MVP snub, the two’s rivalry was just beginning to take shape prior to the 2020 All-Star Game. Giannis said“I’m between Kemba and Trae Young, I want somebody that’s going to pass the ball.”

To which Harden hit back: “I average more assists than him, I think. I don’t see what the joke is, but I didn’t even see it. Don’t pay attention to stuff like that, just know none of them can mess with me… I wish I could just run and be 7 feet and just dunk, like that, takes no skill at all. I gotta actually learn how to play basketball and has skills. I’ll take that any day.” Despite Harden’s remarks, Antetokounmpo has persisted in solidifying his position as one of the top players in the NBA.
