Giannis Antetokounmpo has become a household name in the NBA. For his MVP-level stellar performances, he’s won the hearts of most NBA fans and critics if not all. He recently grabbed headlines for his 55-point game against the Wizards thus making him one of the strong contenders for the coveted KIA MVP title this season. As the eastern conference heats up, the Milwaukee Bucks are 2.5 games out of the top seed. Giannis wants to be able to claim victory, therefore you better believe he will contend for the title.

A player of Giannis’ stature is sure to take home a fat paycheque. He earned approximately $3 million annually during his first four professional campaigns. But he will be able to increase his income to more than $22 million thanks to a four-year, $100 million deal he recently signed. His current estimated net worth is $70 million, in addition to his $40–45 million yearly salary. Most significantly, he has also been frugal with his finances. He purchased a home in River Hills, a wealthy suburb of Wisconsin, using a portion of his first NBA salary.

Giannis now enjoys the comforts of a $1.8 million mansion after previously sharing a two-bedroom apartment with his girlfriend, mother, and brother. He currently resides in an 11,000 square feet mansion in River Hills, Wisconsin, an affluent suburb 5 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee, at 9200 N Upper River Rd.

Needless to say his mansion is feature packed. A two-way fireplace and a sunroom with a vaulted ceiling are located on the main level. It has a family area and kitchen that are connected. The Greek Freak’s main room boasts two walk-in closets, a separate tub, a walk-in shower, a roomy spa bath, and a giant wall-mounted mirror. He even has a huge wine cellar, a game room, a home theater and a gym.

Greek immigrants from Nigeria brought Giannis Antetokounmpo into the world in Athens. His parents fled their home nation in quest of better economic possibilities and entered the country illegally. Giannis’ family had to deal with the dual dangers of Greek society’s anti-immigrant sentiments and the possibility of being deported back to Nigeria while living in Greece.

Due to their legal situation, Giannis’ parents also found it difficult to keep long-term jobs, therefore he and his brothers sold consumer goods like watches and hats informally to support their family. The circumstances of Giannis’ family, however, would drastically change at the age of 13 when Spiros Velliniatis, a coach in the Greek amateur basketball leagues, started scouting him and his siblings (three Antetokounmpo brothers now play in the NBA).

Despite having a slow start, Giannis’ work ethic and innate talents would quickly elevate him to the top of Greece’s basketball talent list. NBA executives and scouts descended on the nation to observe the potential star in action. At age 18, Antetokounmpo was eventually selected by the Milwaukee Bucks as the 15th overall pick and the rest is history.
