There are certain characteristics great athletes uphold while doing their job at the highest level and putting their bodies through its limits. Some of these players have worked relentlessly to become better during every game and to fight past obstacles they had faced during previous games. But it is rare to find a piece that believes they can do it all without anybody else because they know they’re just that good.
Of course, we have come across the late great black mamba who had an endless routine of waking, training, putting his knowledge onto the court, training for the next game correcting flaws, and then repeating it all over again. And then there are cases like Michael Jordan who just knew what they were worth and could do it all without any help.
But these days, players easily get frustrated with their failing systems and make it a point that they get what they want. Such as LeBron James, who is regarded for his tendencies of taking over the team’s general manager post. We have seen the player do his job at top levels for years now but he has always somehow managed to get what he and only he wants for the team he is with. For example, the Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony acquisitions would not have happened with the influence of James.
Michael Jordan settles the score to become the greatest of all time
The Chicago Bulls legend was simply just one of a kind. He brought excitement to the game of basketball and had everyone standing throughout games who would play in. Jordan had fans from all over the world swarm into the bleachers of Bulls games. There is no questioning the six-time NBA champion for what he is worth.
Besides his six titles, MJ won five Most Valuable Player of the league awards during his career. He also won titles in scoring and defending. He had 14 All-Star selections to his name as well as 11 All-NBA selections. He was named the league Rookie of the Year and also made the All-Rookie first team in 1985. Jordan was revered for his elite defense as he lead the league steals in 1988, 1990, and 1993. Most recently, he was named as one of the NBA’s top 75 players of all time. The legend ended his career in 2003 averaging a career total of 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists shooting 49.1% from the field.
Jerry Krause reveals how Michael Jordan never sought other players for help
Michael Jordan’s game was on a level that nobody could even dream of challenging. Jordan had many moments throughout his career where he would trash talk players, say exactly what he was going to do in a play, and successfully complete that play without anybody stopping him. Jerry Krause who was the General Manager of the Chicago Bulls at that time praised Jordan for wanting to keep it real.
“He never came to me and asked for other players. To draft a player. He never came and asked me to trade for a player. Never once did that happen. Part of it was he thought he was so darn good he could win without ‘em.” said Krause. This may have been a slight jab at the King LeBron James who tries to get himself ‘good’ situations for him to work with.
