Russell Westbrook’s stint with the Los Angeles Lakers could easily be condemned as his worst ever as the purple and gold army failed to qualify for the playoffs. Having been included to join forces alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Skip Bayless went onto emphasize how Brodie was destined to fail in the most successful franchise of all-time.

Moreover, Skip Bayless went onto describe Lakers’ goal as horrifying. To those who are not aware, LeBron James was the only positive out of the entire misery full-season. The four-time NBA champion performed exceptionally well, averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. Unfortunately, his solo excellence didn’t compensate for the team’s shortcomings. As they were hampered and haunted by injuries.

Bayless added, “Russell Westbrook had to come in here thinking, ‘I’m going to be bigger than Magic Johnson ever was in Laker Nation. And within about a month, I believe Laker Nation was horrified by what it witnessed.”

Talking statically, Russell Westbrook finished the season as the team’s assists leader, with 7.1 assists per game. He also recorded the third-most points, field goals, free throws and rebounds for the Lakers. He also shot 44.4% from the field and 29.8% from beyond the arc. To sympathize with Brodie on a certain aspect, he wasn’t a complete disaster, it was his worst statistical output since his sophomore season in 2009-10.

That being said, Westbrook is up for a huge contract agreement with the Lakers, costing more than $40 Million. The purple and gold army will not sit quiet as they only have the services of LeBron James until the end of 2022-23 season. They will surely be looking to frame a much better, younger, enthusiastic, competitive and athletic unit around King James in order to compete for the championship next season.

As a result of which, it remains interesting to see if Westbrook is traded away to a different team after the postseason comes to an end.
