“He didn’t go through Kareem, Bird and Magic” Isiah Thomas claims his life story was STOLEN to make Michael Jordan look like a hero in Last Dance

“He didn’t go through Kareem, Bird and Magic” Isiah Thomas claims his life story was STOLEN to make Michael Jordan look like a hero in Last Dance

Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan

Isiah Thomas was never a fan of Michael Jordan, and he made sure that everyone who knew him or spoke to him knew about it. Both rivals played against each other in matches filled with competitiveness, close score sheets, aggressiveness, intensity and a lot of trash talk. Just like any other rivalry, theirs was filled with heat, bad blood and also hate, to some extent. Such was the rivalry that even now when both of them are together in any social gathering, they don’t want to come face to face with each other!

The Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas tale is a one that will go on for years, a tale of rivalry, a tale of hatred, a tale of bad blood. Even though both the players had different playing styles where Thomas was a selfless scorer helping his team in getting two consecutive championships, while Jordan was a dominating player, who along with a bit of support from Scottie Pippen managed to get two three-peats in a single debate. One thing was for sure between both the players’ teams, a match between the Bad Boys Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls was never dull, and had sparkles of excitement associated with it at all times.

These teams led by Jordan and Thomas were so good that they made the game look like a child’s play, and absolutely dominated the league in their era. While Isiah Thomas was making his team play well and contributing to the wins with his creativity, movement, and passing, Jordan was utterly dominant, and both of them gave great results! And this is something that resulted in the beginning of the rivalry between both of them, which has continued since the 80s, and was brought back again recently after some of Thomas’ comments regarding Jordan.

Let us take a closer look into this sequence where Isiah Thomas was bashing Michael Jordan for pretending to be great, and stated that the tale being told of Jordan’s greatness was actually his, and he was the true recipient of those praises.

On the “Point Forward” podcast with Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, Isiah Thomas erupted on Michael Jordan as he visited their rivalry and spoke about how Jordan was nothing without the story he stole from Thomas. He seemed particularly pissed off about Jordan’s Netflix Docu-Series, “The Last Dance”, which was based on Jordan’s life and his struggles in the league which he dominated, and that was something that hit Thomas hard and he didn’t really like it at all as he felt that it was hist story that was being told, not Jordan’s.

Thomas began and said, “So this whole narrative about, ‘Jordan went through [Larry] Bird, he went through Magic [Johnson], he went through Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar].’ Nooooo. Timeout. That’s my story! That ain’t Jordan’s story,” and then followed it up with, “Jordan didn’t go through Magic, Kareem, Bird if I remember correctly. Jordan beat, he beat us [the Bad Boys Detroit Pistons] in ’91 at the end, and then he beat [Charles] Barkley, Shawn Kemp, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing. These were the people he beat. He didn’t beat Magic, Bird, and Kareem. But y’all been sold this story, ‘Oh, he was in the ’80s getting down.’ No, no, no, no, no.”

The relationship between both the players doesn’t seem to have healed and it still remains salty as it was even seen in the NBA 75th anniversary team celebration where they both didn’t come face to face or spoke to each other, despite being physically close.

The facts stated by Thomas don’t sit very well with people all around the world as Jordan did play against Magic Johonson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and beat them multiple times, and even if Jordan didn’t win against Larry Bird, he did manage to give commendable performances in those matches, and gave them a tough fight.
