“He has always been an easy scapegoat for everybody” Kevin Durant sides with Kyrie Irving against speculations of his impact in James Harden leaving the Nets
The Brooklyn Nets Big-3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden
Kevin Durant is someone who is always ready to support his teammates no matter what the situation, and this is what has made headlines as Kevin Durant seems to be defending Kyrie Irving against the speculations by the media blaming Irving for most of the things that are happening to the Brooklyn Nets, including the James Harden trade to Philadelphia 76ers.
Kevin Durant seemingly took the side of Kyrie Irving as he pointed out that it was the job of the media to create speculations and therefore Kyrie was the easiest scapegoat for them to target due to multiple reasons.
In reaction to a question asked by a reporter who asked Durant whether he felt that James Harden’s decision to leave the Brooklyn Nets was an impact of Kyrie not wanting to get vaccinated and playing very little games for the Nets’ team, he had a very straightforward answer which also highlighted the propaganda media holds against so many players who don’t align with their intentions and agenda.
Let us take a closer look at what the question was and what Durant said in reaction to it, making his stance very clear.
Kevin Durant supports Kyrie Irving, calls him an easy scapegoat for the media and fans
In what was seen as an honest opinion from a teammate, Kevin Durant seemingly tried to end the propaganda the media has created for Kyrie Irving which also draws he fan in and leads them to hate on Kyrie Irving, even though most of the times he isn’t at fault as he is “an easy scapegoat” for the media and fans according to Durant.

When Durant was asked a question on whether he felt that Kyrie Irving and his decision to not get vaccinated was the reason as to why James Harden wanted to leave the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant said that anyone could only speculate, and wouldn’t have any real reasons to that. Durant highlighted that he could only speculate and he wouldn’t have any real answers to that, while also stating that there would always be rumours about this and anything else for that matter as it was the job of the media and the fans to speculate.
Durant also highlighted that Kyrie has always been an easy scapegoat for everyone including the media and the fans as he always tends to be targeted for any matter in all of the teams that he has been a part of, be it the Cavaliers, the Celtics or now even the Nets when he is blamed for anything and everything that happens despite him not being in control in most of these matters.
Let us now take a closer look at the Brooklyn Nets’ performance this season and specifically in the past few weeks where they have slumped in every aspect.
Brooklyn Nets this Season
Brooklyn Nets seemed to have unimaginably good performances at the beginning of the regular season and almost had it all figured out with the presence of the Big 3 in their team, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, which meant a problem for any team that would come in front of them.
The Big 3 didn’t really hold on for very long as Kevin Durant had an injury ridden season lately, Kyrie Irving wasn’t able to play any of the home games due to NYCs vaccine mandate which didn’t allow him to play any games in the home city, and James Harden also started missing games lately, siting “injury” which has now resulted in the Nets losing 11-straight matches which has caused a downfall for the team, narrowing their comfortable chances of getting into the playoffs.
Watch:
The Nets stand at the 8th position in the Eastern Conference with a sub-par record of 29-27 so far, which has been a result of them losing so many matches in a row lately. James Harden’s trade to the 76ers which people are speculating is the result of Kyrie Irving not wanting to get vaccinated seems lame at this point as it has always been noted that despite of the long term contracts that he had with the team, he had always shown interest in playing with the 76ers alongside Joel Embiid, which to some extent neutralises these allegations.
