The Los Angeles Lakers have been heavily criticized about their game ever since the beginning of this season. As we all know, they have the most stacked roster in the entire league but to settle with the kind of mediocre performances they are putting up is a blatant insult.

As if the weight was not enough, the Lakers had lost once again to a team that is not anywhere up to their caliber. The game of basketball is a team game and if one member has an off night, it’s either improvise or fall altogether and it seems like this Lakers team has chosen the latter.

NBA analyst Skip Bayless has not been shy about expressing his thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers team. Bayless is brutally honest with the team but also gives credit to where credit is due. Following the Lakers loss against the Sacramento Kings 125-116, the analyst did not spare Russell Westbrook of his brutal honesty.

“If I told you your starting point guard was averaging 19,8 and 8 just in a big picture, you’d say wow that pretty good number. You can make the all-star team. Aren’t those kind of Ben Simmons numbers?” said Bayless appreciative of what Westbrook has achieved with the Lakers thus far.

“But this is a classic ‘Be careful what you wish for’ Russell Westbrook. His dream was to return home and play point guard for the Lakers he grew up living and dying for. So his dream came true and be his worst nightmare.” said Bayless. To briefly elaborate, Westbrook was able to average a triple-double for four seasons straight which helped bag an MVP award.

According to the analyst, going from an MVP player to someone who admits their mistakes and uses them as an excuse to consistently repeat them is something that will ruin your legacy as an all-time great. Bayless might be right after all since Westbrook has found himself among a lot of criticism in the last few months.

Regardless of how good Russell Westbrook is, the nine-time all-star has struggled with shooting the ball and has not struggled in turning over the ball as much this season. Against the Kings, Westbrook shot a horrible 2-14 from the field going 0-5 from deep. He had 8 points with 12 rebounds and 6 assists.

12 rebounds? Skip Bayless said it was absurd of a 6 foot 3 inches tall point guard to take over rebounding responsibilities on the court when he should be taking care of the ball facilitation and or scoring. “ You are a point guard on a team that was the consensus pick to win it all, at least to win the West. Ninety=seventh out of ninety-nine among qualified free throw shooters… its so bad you cant overcome it. He deserves the criticism.”

Bayless had taken a shot at Westbrook’s comments on his own game saying he is allowed to make mistakes, but this often? He also believes that it is the wrong place at the wrong time for Russell Westbrook to make errors mainly because the team heavily relies on him to make winning plays.
