Shaquille O’Neal also known as “Shaq” and “DJ Diesel” and many more names is a retired National Basketball Association’s player and a legendary Hall of Famer as he is the most dominant force ever seen in the league. In his retirement Shaq has turned into a businessman, musician and a NBA analyst as he still loves to be around the game and enjoy it. He now is a successful NBA analyst for NBA on TNT (Turner Network Television) as he trends for his hot-takes and analysis on day to day basis. Recently Shaquille O’Neal made the headlines around the globe as he drew comparison between the young guard Ja Morant and late legend Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant is one of the best players in the league history who is known for everything he has done in his 20 years long career from his godlike footwork to awesome and unbelievable shot making skills. “Mamba Mentality” is a concept of Kobe which the players around the league still look up to as his influence and greatness is still admired and will always be as many stars are currently building their game around his playstyle. Ja Morant is one of those players as he respects the Black Mamba a lot and lives up to the meaning of Mamba mentality.

Ja Morant entering his third season is already a star who’ll soon start his all-star selections chain as he led Memphis Grizzlies to play-offs in his second year and averaged legendary numbers in the five match-ups he played at the post season. He just like Kobe early in his career is making a lot of loud noise and letting the league know that he is coming for them as he recently had a 11 game winning streak with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies under his leadership are ranked as the 3rd seed in the western conference with the record of 31 wins and 15 looses at .674.

Shaquille O’Neal recently on NBA on TNT compared the 2020 Rookie of the Year Ja Morant with Kobe Bryant as he quoted: “Ja Morant knows he’s a star. He reminds me of a young Kobe Bryant, Young Kobe Bryant came into this league saying, ‘I’m taking over. I wasn’t a high draft pick, there’s a lot of stars above me, but I’m taking over this game.’ I love the way this kid plays, I love the enthusiasm he plays with.” Shaq is someone who knows how young Kobe Bryant was as they shared a special relationship throughout their time together winning three championships so him drawing comparison and even giving a reason to it is not at all wrong.

The fans though on the other side have mixed reactions to it as many believe Ja Morant’s game is something which reminds them of Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose as they have same explosive traits rather than of Kobe Bryant who was a better shooter and was far more impressive in every other aspect. Maybe Shaq is right as he is the analysts who knows both the ends and it may take some years for us to find out if this comparison was right or wrong. Till then we can enjoy Ja Morant dunk all the way in to play-offs and establish himself in the league while winning it all.
