“He’s the Greatest Player of All Time!” – Twitter hails LeBron James as ‘The GOAT’ after he crosses 36,000 points mark

LeBron James still has a lot left in his arsenal
LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 132-123 victory against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, snapping a five-game losing streak in the process.

During the game, LeBron James also reached the historic milestone of 36,000 career points. LeBron became only the 3rd player in the NBA to achieve this feat (Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Karl Malone being the other two). The Lakers were leading the Rockets 128-121 with 35.1 seconds remaining in the game when LeBron James made a free throw for his 36,000th career point.

Scoring Leaders in the NBA

LeBron James is currently 3rd in the all-time list of leading scorers (36,001 points) in the NBA. Kareem Abdul Jabbar leads the chart with 38,387 career points. Karl Malone follows Jabbar with 36,928 career points. This makes LeBron James just 2,386 points away from the historic record of Kareem.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar has been the NBA’s leading scorer since 1984 when he passed Wilt Chamberlain for the record. Since then, no player has dethroned Kareem off the top. Kareem retired in 1989 with 38,387 points. It has been 37 years and counting since the league has had a new all-time scoring leader.
Considering the proneness to injury and decrease in production rate, LeBron James will probably have to wait for at least two more seasons to get the record. Having said that, a decrease in production still doesn’t seem to be an issue for The King, who turns 37 tomorrow, as he is averaging 27.4 points per game, which is the most since his Lakers’ debut season (when he was 33 years of age).

LeBron James on his way to create history with one more record
LeBron James can also create history by becoming the first player in the NBA to record a mega career triple-double by having 30K points, 10K assists and 10K rebounds. The 4-time MVP is now 149 assists away from 10,000 career assists and 88 Rebounds away from 10,000 career rebounds. Currently, he is the only player in the league with 30,000 points, 9,000 assists and 9,000 rebounds and anything above that.
It is James’ 19th season in the league and he is still looking like he is in his prime. He scored a triple-double in the victory against the Rockets, the 102nd of his career. The Lakers’ supporting crew came through tonight with Malik Monk scoring 25 points, Carmelo Anthony scoring 24 points off the bench, and fellow star Russell Westbrook also recording a triple-double.
