“I ain’t no Kobe”-Devin booker sounds off on Kobe Bryant slander over Raptors mascot Beef
Devin Booker and Kobe Bryant
Devin Booker just got in an altercation and not with a player but the Toronto Raptors mascot The Raptors. The Phoenix Suns and the Toronto Raptors met up for a match on Tuesday. The match was head-to-head but the Suns drew a lead during the crunch time that took them to their 31st win of this season and the Raptors to their 18th loss.
Things got a bit interesting when Devin Booker got the Raptors mascot that goes by the name The Raptors removed because it was distracting him during his free shoots. The mascot was seen waving and leaping around in order to distract the All-Star and Booker didn’t think twice before banishing the mascot to the sidelines.
Devin Booker: “I love Kobe Bryant but I am no Kobe Bryant.”
Booker surely enjoyed the mascot sitting one knee down on the sidelines as he later went on to change his Twitter profile picture to the raptors sitting on the sidelines. Well, the mascot retaliated by changing his profile picture to him jumping around when Booker was shooting.
But for some fans, this whole situation didn’t make sense as considering how the players are accustomed to playing in front of thousands of people and still register good numbers to not being able to ignore just one mascot joking around. Soon this whole feud between Booker and the mascot led to thousand of memes being made and shared.
Some even drew a comparison with the legend Kobe Bryant who no matter what would be focused in the game. It was tough to break his concentration irrespective of what fans did from behind the basketball rim to distract him and thousands started saying how “Kobe would never” and it didn’t go unnoticed by Devin Booker.
Booker addressed this issue in the post-match conference after the Suns’ defeated the Indiana Pacers on Friday night. He said, “I always have enjoyed social media. I check it daily. When they’re saying good things about me – I don’t get too high, I don’t get too low.”
He commented on being compared with the Lakers Legend, “The only problem I have is people still comparing me to Kobe Bryant. When I told them in the playoffs to stop bringing up Mamba Mentality. I’m inspired by Kobe Bryant, Mamba Mentality, but I am not Kobe Bryant. People are out here yelling Mamba Mentality from their mama’s house.”
Devin Booker has been a follower of Kobe Bryant like many others but he is no Kobe, and he wants people to understand this who are trolling him with “Kobe would never.”
Devin Booker is averaging 3.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists this season for the Suns. The Phoenix Suns are currently ruling the West with 32-9 and will take on the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, 15th Jan.
