The Brooklyn Nets have not been the team many believed they would see during this season. A major part of their rather unsuccessful season would have to be dealing with various injuries. However, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have been doing an exceptional job keeping their playoff hopes alive. Despite having a much weaker record, they still have a shot in the play-in tournament which the Nets are projected to win.

As the season closes, many teams have taken a slight dip in their statistics which some think is because they fear Kevin Durant and the Nets. Durant’s reply to the idea was very calm, he said, “I don’t believe teams are doing that. I think a lot of teams are trying to sure their guys are healthy going into the playoffs. I don’t really think are worried about us, to be honest. So we just focus on what we do, and no matter who we play, just play our game.”

Ben Simmons

With regards to the playoffs, questions surrounding the Nets’ capability to pull it off with just a powerful offense have been a major topic in discussion. The attribute they lacked the most this season was defense and a shortage of players of the same nature. For starters, Joe Harris has been ruled out for the rest of the 2021-22 season after undergoing ligament surgery.

Goran Dragic one of their newest members was not spared of the deadly coronavirus but will most likely be available during the post-season if his condition betters itself. The main key of the Nets’ defense, Ben Simmons is yet to make his season debut since joining the team. Simmons was getting ready until he developed a herniated disc. He has been traveling with the team and has been doing some “light shooting” according to head coach Steve Nash. His return is very unlikely to happen especially for the play-ins.
