Phoenix Suns’ Head coach Monty Williams gave out huge compliments to the Toronto Raptors ‘guard Fred Van Vleet after the latter performance put an impeccable performance against the Suns on Tuesday night.

The Phoenix Suns who are the only team in the league with less than 10 losses started their 5 game road trip on Tuesday when they traveled to Toronto to take on the Raptors at the Scotia Bank Arena. The Suns are ruling the Western Conference but the Raptors gave a tough competition to them.

The raptors’ Van Vleet has been simply phenomenal this season. He is averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game this season.

When Kyle Lowry left Toronto, the franchise knew Fred Van Vleet will have to fit himself in the mold of being the representative of the only Canadian team in the league. Bt the path hasn’t been that smooth for Fred Van Fleet.

In the 2016 NBA draft season, Van Fleet went undrafted. He later signed with the Raptors’ G-League team, Raptors 905, and went on to win the 2017 championship. This was enough to portray the level of caliber he possesses as a player, and the 2019 NBA championship with the Raptors just solidified it.

Against the Suns last night, Van Fleet dropped a 21 pointer game with 2 rebounds and 5 assists. His crucial presence on the court has earned him many praises, and this time is Suns’ coach Monty Williams.

During the post-match conference, Monty talked about Fred Van Fleet’s performance on the court and said, “I’m not quite sure there’s anybody playing better than Fred VanVleet in the East right now.”

Monty is quite assured with Van Vleet’s skill and talent that he had no qualms in calling him the best in the East. To add more substance to this statement, Fred Van Fleet also won this week’s Eastern Conference Player of the week.

It is really hard to digest the fact some people were quite skeptical and even questioned him being on the roster but the tables have in favor of Fred Van Vleet. This also might give him the chance to represent the Toronto Raptors at the NBA All-Star Games.
