“In a 7-game series with Kyrie and Kevin Durant, they can win a series” Magic Johnson rules out Brooklyn Nets for winning a championship

The Brooklyn Nets are just about to have the playoff hopes cut short after losing several games recently. After losing against the Milwaukee Bucks by missing a game-winner, the Nets once again got shot down by the Atlanta Hawks 122-115. Despite the efforts taken by the leaders of the team, their lack of power on defense paved way for the Hawks to close out.

The Brooklyn Nets started the season well reaching the top spot with Kevin Durant and James Harden handling the system set out for them by Coach Steve Nash. After an unfortunate chain of events, the Nets lost Harden during the trade deadline but copped Ben Simmons to carry them on the defensive end. Kyrie Irving made his long-awaited debut but their luck has not worked out for the better just yet.

Magic Johnson calls Brooklyn Nets’ possible second-round exit in the playoffs

On ESPN’s First Take, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson shared a very valid opinion on the Brooklyn Nets calling their early exit during the playoffs this season. The Nets fell to the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference following their disastrous loss. Johnson said, “I think they’re going to have a deep playoff run. I think they’re winning they playins I’m not worried about that when you have Kyrie and you have Kevin Durant.”
“In a short series or a seven-game series with Kyrie and Kevin Durant, they could win a series. They just can’t win the championship. They’re going to be people a lot of problems but my problem is still the same thing, it’s still defense, defense and defense.” said Johnson. There is no solid option for the Nets on defense apart from Andre Drummond and Ben Simmons. Simmons has been a top-tier defender throughout his entire career which would work well for the Nets during the playoffs. However, his presence during the post-season has not been confirmed.
