A video was posted a Twitter (@DubsNets) showing Kevin Durant speaking very highly about Ben Simmons after being asked what he thought about the player. He said, “Oh Ben? Oh man he’s something I’ve never seen before. Really playing a point guard, you know what I’m saying at that height and that speed and that strength. He’s doesn’t mind getting into scuffles, showing his little feisty side. That’s gonna mean well for the Sixers down the line.”

Of course, fans had to bring up an old video on Durant in hopes of stirring up some controversy. Despite talks, Durant opened up about the rumors of the Simmons-Harden swap and said that he wants Harden to stay and believes the Beard wishes to work it out as well.

According to ESPN, Philadelphia 76ers general manager Daryl Morey reached out to the Brooklyn Nets in hopes of finalizing a swap. Morey had asked Nets general manager Sean Marks about trading James Harden to which Marks replied with a firm and confident “No.”

What happens if Ben Simmons was swapped with James Harden?

To put this into perspective let us take a look at some statistics. The former league MVP has been averaging a steady 22.5 points per game this season with 8 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game which is damn near a triple-double. Harden leads the league in assists and also has experience being a sixth man and a primary facilitator of the ball. He has a better three-point percentage (obviously) and not to forget, mentioning it for the second time, was a league MVP.

Ben Simmons on the other hand has not been consistent in his game. He has not shot more than 5 threes in his entire career being a point guard without only being a top defensive player. Harden’s defensive may look like nothing in comparison but it is definitely existent. So, why would the Nets want any less of a player than James Harden?

Harden has been speaking on testing free agency after this season and many insiders have confirmed these rumors. This puts the Nets in a very uncomfortable situation which will need them to prove their title-winning potential on the court or risk losing the guard to a better contract.
