Kyrie Irving is no more a part-time player for the Brooklyn Nets as he is officially allowed to play back at his home arena Barclays Center. The season so far has been a complete rollercoaster for him as first he was sidelined due to New York City’s vaccine mandate but then the franchise decided to have him back for road games as a part-time player and after months he finally got his debut while he stays firm on his decision of being unvaccinated. He was one of the most criticized players so far the season as fans trolled and criticized his decision while never leaving an opportunity to take a dig at him.

Recently, the Brooklyn Nets hosted the Charlotte Hornets at Barclays Center. The game was closely contested and head to head but the scoring greats of the Hornets in the second half led by LaMelo Ball got the job done as they added a win to their record. The final box score stands at 110-119 favoring the Charlotte Hornets. Currently, the Brooklyn Nets are ranked as the ninth seed in the eastern conference with the record of 39 wins and 36 losses at .520.

In the game, Kyrie Irving had 16 points, 11 assists, and 2 rebounds while playing for forty-one minutes. He had many highlight-worthy plays as he never fails to get buckets for his team while being great on the supporting cast for Kevin Durant. Kyrie Irving would have won his debut game but LaMelo Ball ruined it for him as he had hot hands from the deep while swishing three-pointers.

Kyrie Irving discussing the season and things that happened with him for his decision of staying unvaccinated in the post-game quoted: “The point of this season for me was never to just take a stance. It was really to make sure that I’m standing on what I believe in, in freedom. Freedom, I don’t think that’s a word that gets defined enough in our society, about the freedom to make choices with your life without someone telling you what the f–k to do and whether that carries over to nuances of our society that politicians control, the government controls, or things people who are in power…the powers that may be. I’m standing for freedom, so that’s in all facets of my life. There’s nobody that’s enslaving me. I don’t want anyone telling me what to do with my life, and that’s just the way I am, and if I get tarnished in terms of my image and people slandering my name continually because those aren’t things that I forget. I haven’t forgotten anything that anybody said. I don’t read everything, but I definitely read some things that put my family’s name in a certain position that I believe are unfair.”

Kyrie Irving was very straight-forward with his explanation of his legacy and his stand for being unvaccinated throughout the time he got trolled and criticized. In his explanation, Uncle Drew pointed out most of the time on freedom and how his decisions were aimed all the time while he did what he wanted to as he is free to choose. Now it’s a totally changed story as he is allowed to play at his home arena and the Nets are back on the track to redeem their lost spot and respect.
