Lakers News: LeBron James and Anthony Davis give their word of appreciation upon ‘undrafted hero’ Austin Reaves
Austin Reaves
Austin Reaves, an undrafted player who just inched his way into the Los Angeles Lakers roster by displaying phenomenal performances in the G League has finally made his announcement on the big stage. After playing short roles for the purple and gold army, this time the 23-years-old took the center stage to close the Lakers vs Mavericks in his team’s favor.
In the process, Austin Reaves got the appreciation of both the marquee players of his team, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. With the score tied at 104 a piece, none of the Dallas Mavericks players thought that the undrafted player would be given a chance to shoot a game winning shot. But with the hard-work clearly showing, Reaves was quick and efficient in seizing the moment.
What was opinionated by LeBron James and Anthony Davis on Austin Reaves?
Safe to say, despite the fact that LeBron was possibly the most-hyped rookie in NBA history and Reaves was an unheralded prospect from Arkansas, James can relate to Reaves in many ways. On the same note, when he questioned upon the 23-years-old, he had some interesting things to state.
“We don’t go around playing the game or doing what we do and try to get somebody’s expectations of us,” LeBron said.” We try to talk about what we need to do on the floor, and things of that nature. As a group — that’s all the matters. How we collectively carry each other, how we collectively hold each other accountable, and how we continue to celebrate each other when one has a moment. And that’s what it’s all about.”
“Extremely proud and excited for AR15,” LeBron said, referencing Austin Reaves’ nickname.
With this win over the Dallas Mavericks, the purple and gold army have managed to register their 16th win and are looking to pose their best form as the 2021-22 season picks up pace every passing day.
