LeBron James’ Jersey: Why does King James wear No. 6

LeBron James

Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James is playing his 20th league season this time. However, it has not been an excellent season for him and the LA Lakers franchise. Currently, the ‘Big 3’ of the Lakers are benched due to unavoidable injury, which has derailed the team’s campaign.

Many of them from the NBA world might imagine why the NBA legend dons the number 6 jersey. LeBron, sometime back, gave a decent clarification as to why he loves this number. He said, “It’s always been a part of me, to be honest. Six has a lot of meaning to me, from my family and numbers and things of that nature to what I believe in and things of that sort, but my mentality doesn’t change.”

He added, “Going out, being an overall basketball player, trying to dominate at all facets of the game and being a great teammate. And being a great leader.” In 2021, during the offseason, LeBron James decided to change his jersey number with the Los Angeles Lakers; from wearing No. 23 during his first three seasons with the franchise, he swapped it for no. 6. James also wore no. 6 with his former NBA team, Miami Heat during the four seasons which he spent there. He won back-to-back titles for the Heat, wearing jersey no.6.

Chris Paul scored a magnificent 28 points and was well supported by Deandre Ayton, who added 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns slid aside the Los Angeles Lakers 130-104. The Suns were missing of their team six players, including Devin Booker, who sat out due to right groin soreness. He scored 58 points in the Sun’s last win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Even the LA Lakers were missing their big-game players and All-Star trio of LeBron James, who missed out due to left ankle soreness, Anthony Davis facing right foot soreness, and Russell Westbrook had left foot soreness. The Lakers franchise is in a big dilemma as most of the vital cogs of their machine are benched due to injuries. After a miserable start, it was now that their campaign was getting back on track, but these injuries have created a significant setback for them. They are scheduled to face the Charlotte Hornets next, while the Phoenix Suns take on the Memphis Grizzlies.
