LeBron James shockingly rips Lakers after gigantic loss against Bucks
LeBron James and Anthony Davis
The Los Angeles Lakers have been a major letdown this season and many of us are well aware of it. After winning some valuable games in between, they were once again let down. The Lakers faced the Milwaukee Bucks at home losing 116-131.
Almost halfway through the season and the situation surrounding the team has not improved whatsoever. Initially, it seemed like injuries were their biggest setback which soon shifted to health and safety protocols. And now that the entire roster is back on track, they are still unable to bridge the gap between winning and losing.
Anthony Davis and LeBron James speak up about their team’s goals
Following the Bucks game, Anthony Davis admitted that Giannis Antetokounmpo and his team had outplayed the Lakers in every way for the first half. He said that their plan is to win the upcoming games before All-Star weekend to set the mood right and to bring more confidence moving into the “second half” of the season.
On being asked about the changes made to the team’s game plan ever since losing in the first round after being up 2-1, LeBron James was very certain that injuries had to play a massive role in both situations despite making moves and roster changes. Besides injuries, he also mentioned health and safety issues referring to a road stretch they had earlier in the season which took out four of their five rotation players.
LeBron James comes to Russell Westbrook’s rescue
During the game, the cameras were panned towards Russell Westbrook who looked like he was trying to motivate Davis and James who were seated next to each other. LeBron addressed the moment possibly trying to keep it subtle and not stir up unnecessary drama.
He said, “Listen, I wanna help AD, I wanna help Russ. AD wanna help me, help Russ. And Russ wanna help us. You know Russ hasn’t felt like he had an opportunity or with opportunities given he hasn’t helped us as much as he would like. We haven’t done a great job of helping him.”
LeBron was very honest about the situation saying that neither of the three core leaders has put in enough effort into helping themselves or the team to produce better. Furthermore, he agreed to a statement saying that the coaching staff have yet to figure out a proper working system for the team. He still remains optimistic as there is still a second set of games to be played before the end of the regular season.
LeBron James says the Lakers do not have what it takes to be contenders
While being asked what he thought about his team in comparison to the defending champions and the thirty lead they had against them, LeBron said, “We ain’t on their level. Do I think we can reach that level where Milwaukee is right now? No.”
Despite all odds, the duo believes that they have enough time to seal the deal and creep their way up into the post-season. They are currently seated out of the clinch without a record of 26 wins and 29 losses. As they both had said, the team has a lot of work and effort to put in to get to contention level in a short amount of time.
