Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook

The outcome of the season so far has been a complete one-eighty that what many of us had predicted prior to its commencement. Let us take the Los Angeles Lakers as an example, many believed that the top-heavy roster that consisted of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Westbrook would hit the top spot this season. But where are they now?

Even though they managed to touch the top few spots, they are currently shuffling between the play-in berths with a record of 26 wins and 30 losses. There were many flaws in their system which they have corrected over the days but some major issues are yet to be solved.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis

Many criticize LeBron James for failing to read the actual requirements of the team and trading for a big name. Some simply say the Lakers’ roster is washed with an injury-prone Anthony Davis. The players themselves have admitted to slacking and say that need to put in more work during the remainder of the season.

Unlike the Lakers, the Golden State Warriors have exceeded all expectations put forth by the entire world. Stephen Curry managed to lead the team to the top despite people questioning their true potential. They have had a good stretch of games with Klay Thompson back who is averaging very good numbers fresh off of a two-year-long rehabilitation.

But did you know? Russell Westbrook is averaging a higher field goal percentage than the greatest shooter of all time, himself? He is averaging 43.5% from the field as opposed to Curry’s 42.2% field goal shooting.

The explanation as to why Westbrook has a better field goal percentage is because he takes significantly lesser attempts compared to Curry and shoots the three-ball at a much lower rate. Brodie averages a total of 15.9 attempts per game whereas Curry takes 19.7 attempts per game with it passing 20 attempts at times.
