“Let’s bench him? What are we even talking about?” Coach Steve Kerr showers unconditional love on Klay Thompson despite inconsistent form
Steve Kerr and Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson’s return to the Golden State Warriors could be the icing on the cake for the team. The Warriors were struggling over the last two seasons without him and also without their veteran point guard after fracturing his arm. However, the tables turned after the dubs entered the 2021-22 season by storm going on an incredible run during the first half.
The Warriors have concluded the regular season as the third seed in the Western Conference and will potentially be making their fourth title run with the big three in Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay. They will be facing the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs led by MVP candidate Nikola Jokic being the sixth seed. The Warriors are expected to have a fully healthy roster coming into the post-season on April 17th, 2022.
Klay Thompson closes out the Warriors’ season with an insane 41 point performance
Klay Thompson is one of the main offensive threats on the Warriors’ roster as he shoots 38.5% from three on more attempts (9.3) making a career-high of 3.6 per game. He was more or less inconsistent with his performances ever since his return which many questioned it being a possible setback for the team in the post-season. He is currently averaging 20.4 points, 2.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game.
Thompson closed out his last three regular-season games averaging 36.6 points per game. KT erupted on offense against the season closes with the New Orleans Pelicans putting up 41 points with 7 made three-pointers. It almost seems like Thompson finally found himself on the court after a two-year-long hiatus.
Head Coach Steve Kerr showers Klay Thompson with his unconditional love
As many people began to grow concerned over Klay Thompson’s inconsistency, Head Coach of the Warriors Steve Kerr shares his thoughts over the situation shutting down all the doubt about the player. He said, “Everything he’s done for the franchise, two and a half years off, you don’t think it’s going to take some time to find his rhythm? It’s like, ‘Oh he’s had a few bad games. Let’s bench him.’ What are we even talking about here?”
Klay despite the doubt surrounding his game still remains confident about battling the Nuggets in the first round. He said, “I mean it’s a clean stale now. Especially if we go into the playoffs whole, its going to be a scary sight for the rest of the NBA.” Curry has returned to practice ahead of the Nuggets series. The player had averaged 25.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists on 43.7% shooting from the field.
