“Little guards who drive in because they aren’t good shooters do not last long”: JA Morant responds to Colin Cowherd as he attacks the All-Star for being injury-prone
Colin Cowherd and JA Morant
JA Morant has been the hottest young star in the league as he single-handedly carries Memphis Grizzlies to new heights in the regular season. He has been the most dominant guard so far in the season because of his great scoring abilities in the paint. JA has godlike explosiveness as he is fearless while driving in or going up to gift someone a poster to remember. He also made it to the All-Star team as a starter this season since fans rooted and voted for him spectating his crazy bounce, fearlessness and veteran-like leadership skills.
Recently, JA broke the internet as he set a new franchise scoring record, got a new career-high, caught a body and made an unreal insane buzzer-beater ever all in one game against the San Antonio Spurs. Currently, under the leadership of JA Morant, the Grizzlies are ranked as the third seed in the western conference with the record of 43 wins and 20 losses at .683. He has also made it to the MVP conversation alongside names like Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and DeMar DeRozan.
Fans also root for him to be a top contender as he never fails to amaze them. But Colin Cowherd isn’t a fan of his heroics as he had a totally different take on JA while pointing out the injuries since he believes he won’t stay in the league for long. Colin also compared JA to other guards in the past who were just like him and how they fell short in the long run.

Colin Cowherd on JA Morant
Colin Cowherd discussing JA Morant and his greats in the San Antonio Spurs game quoted: “This JA Morant stuff I know he’s great. But I want to remind you fans in the media have fallen for this five times in the last twelve years. It’s called John Wall, called Westbrook it’s called Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose was every bit of JA Morant. He literally took over social media. He took over Cable T.V. I am very skeptical of the long-term championship odds for springy, athletic guards that drive and score. The multiple MVP guard winners, Magic with three, Steph with two, Nash with two, are distributors and shooters. The guys that knock your socks off. The little guys that drive to the basket because they’re not great shooters do not last.”
Further speaking about injuries and bringing in the comparison Colin Cowherd added: “Wall hurt, Westbrook multiple hurt. Start looking at them. Derrick Rose was every bit what Ja Morant is. He was not a great shooter. He had to finish at the rim, and he got hurt. Right now JA Morant is second in the league in paint scoring behind a center Jokic.” Colin Cowherd on his take further also added the toughness seen in the paint and how the big guys go against each other while JA isn’t one and how he has to start shooting and pulling up instead of driving every time.
The clip of Colin’s take trends and even JA watched it as giving back a savage reply via Twitter JA quoted: “ohhh Colin” and made sure he knows he has seen it and is listed. The injury takes on the young star guard trend but everything as of now looks good as he is healthy and averaging 27.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. Cowherd isn’t all wrong as injuries for players like JA and especially him will always be concerning while everyone can just hope for the good.
