Malik Monk is one of the players in the league who had to climb the ranks to get to where he is now. Growing up, Monk had his mind surrounded by basketball. Having a supportive elder brother and her mother, Malik had a successful career starting from high school till now. Malik was born on February 4, 1998, to parents Michael Scales and Jacaynlene Monk.
Malik Monk attended Bentonville High School in Arkansas. Malik was a pure scorer in high school and was ranked a five-star prospect by ESPN. He later committed to the University of Kentucky, playing for the Wildcats. He averaged about 20 points as a freshman and delivered some of the most memorable performances in the Wildcats’ history. Following his freshman year, Monk was drafted as an 11th pick by the Charlotte Hornets.
He had performed decently in his first few years. Malik signed with the Los Angeles Lakers after playing four seasons for the Hornets. A year later, Monk joined the Sacramento Kings. Behind all his success, he is grateful to his mother and his elder brother for pushing him to be the best.

Malik Monk was born to Micahel Scales and Jacaynlene Monk in the city of Jonesboro, Arkansas. His father is a graduate of Marked Tree high school in Arkansas. Whereas his mother went to East Poinsett County high school also in Arkansas. Though Monk’s parents were separated when he was still young. Malik stayed with his mother who would look for jobs living in a tough place to earn. She worked at a district school, where she didn’t make enough to support Malik, after which both shifted to Bentonville with his brother.
