Massive Update on Kyrie Irving returning as a Full-Time Nets player after New York City Mayor announces relaxation in mandates
Kyrie Irving
Kyrie Irving has always been the biggest game-changer for the Brooklyn Nets and when the franchise was struggling in the mid-season, they decided to somehow bring back Irving for the away games as he refused to get vaccinated. The NYC covid safety laws were restricting him from playing basketball in the city. Meanwhile, when Mayor Eric Adams has announced some relaxation, it seems that Kyrie has to still wait to perform in front of his home crowd.
Since New York City has continued to see a drop in the covid cases, Mayor Adam decided to ease up the laws from March 7. According to the new mandate, compulsory vaccination will not be required for indoor dining, fitness, and entertainment venues but the private sector has not been cleared from this mandate to which Eric Adams said, “Not at this moment. It’s part of our continuation of releasing as the better and better we get with these numbers. Not at this moment”.

Mayor Eric Adams wants Kyrie Irving to play at home but can’t allow him as “so much at stake”
According to the new mandates, Irving might not be able to play at home but he will be allowed as a spectator in the game. Moreover, even Mayor Adams ‘badly’ want to see the 29-year-old play at home but according to him, it will send a wrong message to the people who work in the city if Irving gets allowed to play without being vaccinated.
On Monday just one day after announcing NYC’s new laws, Adams said to CNBC, “Listen, I want Kyrie on the court. I would do anything to get that ring. But there’s so much at stake here.”
Further, he added, “We want to find a way to get Kyrie on the court, but this is a bigger issue. I can’t have my city closed down again. It would send the wrong message just to have an exception for one player when we’re telling countless number of New York City employees, ‘If you don’t follow the rules, you won’t be able to be employed.”

Irving since his debut this season has played 15 road games and has averaged 25.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. Meanwhile, his absence at home has brought a huge load on the Nets squad because even their star shooter Kevin Durant was out due to injury. Let’s see will the fans in New York city be able to see its star point guard perform in front of them or not.
