Bridges was about to sign a maximum contract with the Charlotte Hornets roughly weeks after his arrest. The incident changed the dynamics between the team and the player, while Bridges remained a restricted free agent for the season.

Previously the small forward had signed a 4-year contract with the Hornets with an annual average salary of $4,079,463. The $16,317,853 contract will now see Miles earning a base salary of $7,921,301 for the 2022-23 season while carrying a cap hit of $16,264,479.

According to his previous contract, Miles will be earning $7,921,301 for the 2022-23 season. However, his further contract renewal clauses may add to the account if he signs the one-year tender. As per the older terms, it could carry a cap hit of $16,264,479.

When will Miles Bridges Return to the NBA?

As a restricted free agent, Miles is expected to return to the NBA in March 2023. However, it is rather evident that he will be facing an immediate suspension from the league upon return. For relevance, Jeffery Taylor had received the longest suspension in NBA history for domestic violence with 24 games on the sidelines.

Although Charlotte Hornets have recently denied any advancements with the player regarding a possible extension, the possibility remains open. Other teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons, are also monitoring possible moves, as per reports. Remains to be seen what the future beholds for the Hornets forward.

Why was Miles Bridges Arrested?

Earlier last year, in a later-deleted Instagram post, Bridges’ wife, Mychelle Johnson, came out with some disturbing allegations of domestic violence against the player. She shared photos of injuries she sustained and also uploaded a video of their son speaking of the alleged attack and what had happened.

Miles was charged with three felony and domestic violence charges which he initially pleaded not guilty to. Later, he pleaded no contest with a 3-year probation sentence without prison time.

What Miles Bridges’ future holds for him in the NBA is a real question to be seen. Given his stellar performances, teams might actually be looking to take a PR hit and sign the player after all. But if it will be the Charlotte Hornets or not, only time will tell.
