Draymond Green and LeBron James

LeBron James sat-out the Los Angeles Lakers game against Golden State Warriors. Though his team is out of playoff picture, he sees tge Dubs as potential candidates for the Championship this post-season. The purple and gold army lost their all-important match to stay in the play-in situation. An early exit in the season attracted heavy criticism and fans even started to speculate heavy consequences of the poor season. LeBron James though seems to have shrugged off the disappointments as he is looking ahead to great NBA postseason.

He shared a message to fellow “brother” Draymond Green and the Warriors team, wishing their team-best for the playoffs.

Is LeBron James backing Golden State Warriors for the title?

LeBrion James has history against Golden State Warriors team

Very recently Golden State Warriors enjoyed “Golden years” in Basketball. They won 3 NBA Titles and 5 Conference titles from 2015-to 2019, a feat very difficult to replicate. LeBron James has a bit of history with the Warriors team from his Cavs days. Both teams dominated their respective conferences and faced each other for the title for 4 consecutive seasons (2015-2018).

Though the Warriors had the best results in those finals matchups, LeBron and co. did give them tough fights in all the finals matches. 38-year old James managed to deliver Cleveland Cavaliers their 1st NBA title in 2016. The remarkable comeback wins for the Cavs, fueled the on-court rivalry between the Warriors and James; while off-the-court they showed immense respect for each other.

Currently, the Warriors are 3rd in the West and will play 6th seed Denver Nuggets in the playoffs. Though the Nuggets have a 3-1 advantage in the season series, a fully fit Warriors team can turn the tables in their favor.

As far as James’ predictions are concerned, big 3 of Warriors Curry-Green-Thompson and with a very potent young support cast, the Warriors can certainly go deep in the playoffs this season. They have a balance on the court with high-flying scorers and team defense.

What is next for the LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers?

Los Angeles Lakers started 2021 as one of the favorites for the Championship. But sadly nothing in the season went in the Lakers’ way. Injuries, bad decision making, and the Covid-19 situation made the situation worst for them as they went down in some of the “Winnable” games and never came back to challenge the Title. Winding up so early in the season for record 17-time NBA champions is never an exciting scene.

But an exit from the Playoffs gave many Lakers’ stars, including the coaching staff something to think about, management will be looking to make drastic changes as the damage done this season is beyond any “Fine-tuning”. Looking at the future, Lakers do have very limited pieces to play with, Anthony Davis and LeBron James remains un-touchables in the roaster while Horton Tucker can expect an improved contract in near future. Westbrook signed from Washington Wizards can be crucial in any futuristic approach from the management. Whether they decide to keep him or trade him for young core will decide the Lakers upcoming seasons.

Nevertheless, with 11th seed finish will bring some changes to the LA Lakers side. Which Veteran signed for 1 year will get an extension? Can we see reshuffle in the Coaching staff? Will LeBron James remain in LA or will he seek better support cast around him to challenge for Title in the “Purple and yellow” jersey again is an interesting question to lookout for.
