James Harden is a superstar in the league, however, over the past year there has been a change in the narrative, in fans, and in NBA pundits. Since his departure from the Houston Rockets, he has had a change of role and his approach to the game for the most part of his time in Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Such changes in the game also change the stat sheet of players, affecting their popularity among voters. In a recent post on Instagram (story), Harden, perhaps, expressed his displeasure over his snub from the All-Star game. Being the prime focus of his Houston Rockets’ offense for the most part of his career, it is not hard to imagine that accepting a new role isn’t going that great for him.
Reserves for the 2023 All-Star Game were announced on Thursday night by the league. Joel Embiid was named in the reserve pool of the star-studded game. However, it wasn’t just the only news for the 76ers. Their point guard, Harden was snubbed from the spot in Eastern Conference starting or reserve spots. While Embiid has been offensively dominating the league. Harden has been a perfect Robin to his All-Star teammate. Not holding back, the 10 x All-Star said he felt disrespected. “The disrespect,” wrote Harden on his Instagram story.
Harden has adjusted well to his new role as a playmaker rather than a dominant scorer at guard, averaging a career-high 11.0 assists per game. He’s a key cog in the Sixers’ success alongside Embiid, averaging 21.4 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 39.4 percent from deep. With 33 wins and 17 losses so far into the season, the 76ers are the top three teams in the East. They are also the team to beat in the league.

So far into the season, Harden has been averaging excellent numbers for the 76ers. He has been averaging 21.4 points and 11 assists per game. The inclusion of the former Houston Rockets player has been a key factor in the exponential increase in the overall production of the team. He is a perfect triple threat from his team which opens up the floor for other players, especially Embiid.
This Thursday, the league announced the reserves for the 2022–23 All-Star games. Harden’s teammate Joel Embiid was on the list. Knowing that he is one of the top scorers in the league and also in the MVP conversation, it is already a huge disrespect for Joel. Perhaps this will fuel the fire in their roster. As former MVP James Harden didn’t even get a spot and is feeling the disrespect. But nothing can be said about their snubs as it all depends upon the voting process of the league.
