“If you don’t play well, admit it” 5x NBA Champion slams Russell Westbrook for being in DENIAL of his atrocious form

Magic Johnson and Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook seems to be only a shadow of his former self after the former NBA All-Star is seen averaging 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists on 28.9 percent shooting through three games. Magic Johnson, a Los Angeles Lakers superstar and Basketball Hall of Famer, has urged Russell Westbrook to “take blame” for his terrible start to the season. Johnson recently spoke on Shannon Sharpe’s show and discussed the Westbrook problem, which hit a new low point on Sunday with the team’s defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Magic Johnson speaking on Russell Westbrook said, “Take accountability. If I don’t play well, say, ‘I don’t play well.’ When I didn’t perform well in ’84 against the Celtics, I admitted that. I took accountability.” Johnson recalled being booed by supporters after former coach Paul Westhead was fired. The five-time NBA champion claimed he performed better, turning the boos into applause, and Russell Westbrook will have to do the same.”
Johnson further state, “That’s what Russell [has] got to do,” said Magic Johnson. “Quit trying to fight the media. the fans, and just say, ‘You know what, I didn’t play well, I’m gonna play better,’ and go out there on the court and perform.”
With the Lakers behind by one point and 30 seconds remaining, Westbrook carried the ball up the court and attempted an ill-advised jumper with 18 seconds remaining on the shot clock. A few plays later, Jerami Grant made the game-winning basket, capping up the Blazers’ rally and condemning the Lakers to a 0-3 start.
Russell Westbrook may get traded in the days to come

Russell Westbrook’s fortunes with the Los Angeles Lakers appear to have remained unchanged in the current season. Despite only three games played, Westbrook’s misfit with the Lakers is on full show. Westbrook put up 19 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists in his debut game versus the Golden State Warriors, shooting 58.3% from the field.
He has struggled in his previous two games against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers. In those games, Westbrook has scored a total of 12 points on 4-of-26 field goals, including 0-of-9 on 3-point tries. He’s played solid defence, but the Lakers’ offence suffers from his lack of offensive threat. They already have a league-low 21.2% 3-point percentage.
All summer, the Los Angeles Lakers have been looking at moves focused on Russell Westbrook. There were hints that the top brass would postpone any transactions until Thanksgiving. However, given their 0-3 start and Westbrook’s struggles, the Lakers may decide to transfer the nine-time All-Star sooner. In a hypothetical deal, LA may get several quality role players who are effective scorers and shooters.
