“Kevin Durant was charged $50,000” Adam Silver, NBA emerge as hypocrites for leniency shown towards Anthony Edwards’ HOMOPHOBIC attitude
Anthony Edwards is certainly a top tier young player in the NBA for all the right reasons. But having a platform set as high as his comes with a price, not only for him but even for the entire group of athletes signed under the league. Lately, his reputation has lowered quite a but following the social media mishap.
After the Minnesota Timberwolves player used a bunch of offensive words towards the LGBTQ+ Community, he was fined $40,000 as a compensation fee for his actions. His words certainly triggered several NBA fans and his own social media followers as well. But was the punishment hard enough?
Many believe this punishment is not nearly equivalent to what Kevin Durant had been given last year. The Brooklyn Nets star also used similar derogatory language against actor and NBA superfan Michael Rapaport. This issue also involved heep of misogyny and homophobia as well.
Anthony Edwards apologises for his terrible actions
Anthony Edwards took to social media to show his followers a group of men in NSFW clothing. In the short video, he was heard saying, “Look at these queer a** ni**as, man.” Even though his intentions were purely meant for comedic reasons, it certainly did not come out the way he had intended it to. The video was removed very quickly.
Soon after the incident, he took to Twitter to apologise to his fans and social media followers. He said, “It’s unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, there’s no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that!” Obviously, this did not resolve the issue.
This was not the right time for Anthony Edwards to get caught up in an issue like this, especially since the NBA and the world is still processing horrible actions of Robert Sarver. Fans were not happy with how lenient Adam Silver was with Ant’s punishment. Here is what they had to say in the comments.
