“Draymond Green’s going to do what he does; we’re not worried about him” Al Horford throws major shade at Draymond Green’s ‘dirty’ plays after epic Game 2 loss
Draymond Green pisses Boston with his intense defense
Is there a more polarizing player in the NBA than Draymond Green ? none come to mind. Golden State didn’t give up, they conquered, as they defended their home court in an emphatic 107-88 victory against the Eastern Conference Champions, Boston Celtics, to tie the series going into Boston. The veteran Warriors forward made headlines following Game 1 after dismissing the Celtics’ hot shooting night, well looks like Warriors were better then ‘fine’ as they set the court aflame in the 3rd Quarter, storming the Celtics and tying the Finals at 1-1 each, as he head to Massachusetts for Game 3.
The score at halftime was 52-50 in favour of the Warriors, with the Celtics snapping at their heels. The 3rd quarter began , and so did the decimation by the Warriors, as they were spearheaded by their ‘Achilles’, Stephen Curry. It was absolute carnage at the Chase Centre as Curry put on a show and Poole topped it off with a jaw-dropping 3 pointer. Steph Curry led the way for Golden State with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, while Jordan Poole added 17 points off of the bench. The Warriors forced 18 Boston turnovers and they scored 33 points off of those turnovers, which was a big factor in the outcome of the game.
Jayson Tatum paced the Celtics with 28 points and 6 rebounds, with 21 of those coming in the first half itself. However, his production wasn’t enough as only two other Celtics players scored in double figures. Jaylen Brown added 17 for the Celtics, but fought through a 5-for-17 shooting night, and Derrick White scored 12.Now, the series shifts to Boston for Games 3 and 4.

“We’re not worried about him” – Al Horford has a jab at Draymond Green’s physical play in Game 2
The game was extremely close through the first 24 minutes, but in the third quarter, the Warriors kicked it up a notch and gained some serious separation. Golden State outscored Boston 35-14 in that quarter and they never looked back. Draymond Green, the Warriors forward who struggled to find his offensive form in Golden State’s Game 1 home loss to Boston. He finished the game with four points and five assists, missing 10 shots and turning the ball over three times before fouling out. Well, the tables turned in Game 2 as Draymond got his redemption and revenge against the Celtics with a fantastic defensive effort, to clamp them out.
The intensity of Draymond Green, unsettled the Boston Celtics players in the NBA Finals. The former Defensive Player of the Year’s physicality set the tone for the Warriors’ defense, as only 3 Celtics’ players got into double figures. Green’s impact on that win was not both physically and mentally. He got into scuffles with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Grant Williams over the course of 48 minutes. However, after the loss, Al Horford did not want to credit him for getting in the Celtics’ heads as the visitors fell apart in the second half.
“No impact. He’s going to do what he does. We’re not worried about him. We’re going to do what we do, focus on us. We just didn’t get it done tonight. We’ll be better at home Game 3. I don’t know if they raised the physicality of the game. Whatever that is, I just think that we just weren’t good enough tonight, especially in that third. But I don’t think it has to do anything with that.” Horford stated in his post-game conference
“I know what Draymond is going to do. They switched the line-up. They tried to put him on me, be physical, muck the game up, pull me, grab me and overall raise the intensity. That’s what Draymond Green does. He’ll do whatever it takes to win. He’ll pull you, he’ll grab you, he’ll try to muck the game up because that’s what he does for their team. It’s nothing to be surprised about. Nothing I’m surprised about. He raised his physicality to try to stop us and we’ve got to raise ours. Looking forward to the challenge.” Jaylen Brown said after the game.
Green received a technical in the first quarter after a collision with Grant Williams from behind. He later got tangled up with Jaylen Brown in the second quarter and appeared to pull down Brown’s shorts. Officials did not give Green a second technical foul. This wouldn’t be the first time that Draymond has been called a “dirty” player, if there is someone you could count on to bounce back in Game 2, it was Draymond Green. Green plays for glory and will do everything in his power to compliment his team in any position whatsoever, for the sake of victory, and so he delivered.
