The Golden State Warriors are in a difficult situation. They are currently sitting 11th in the highly competitive Western Conference. With a losing record of 15-16, the Warriors must rethink how to improve the team. With the trade deadline looming ever closer, time is not available in spades for the Warriors. They have several head-scratching issues which need to be addressed before playoff time.

Draymond Green‘s absence through suspension is an issue that will find resolution with time. But as Tim Kawakami reported, their real problem is the situation with their two athletic wing players. Playing both Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga on the court together is a lineup problem for the star-studded Warriors. Wiggins has also seen a drop in his play, which is not good.

Despite keeping most of their players from their championship-winning team of 2022, the Golden State Warriors are in this hapless situation. Andrew Wiggins was one of the main reasons the Warriors won their fourth NBA title. But with Kuminga rising through the charts and Wiggins’s sudden drop in play this season, the Warriors must make light of their situation.

Wiggins averaged 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists during the championship-winning season for the Warriors. In stark contrast, he averages just 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists this season. That is a huge drop for the Warriors, who are already not shooting the basketball as well as they did years ago.

Basketball fans reacts to the Golden State Warriors’ struggles

The Warriors already traded Jordan Poole away before the start of this season. His bust-up with Draymond Green led to a down year last season, with many players not liking the locker room atmosphere. Now, with Wiggins playing worse than before and the rise of Kuminga and rookie Brandin Podzeimski, the Warriors think tank remains scratching their heads.

Whatever course the Warriors take, it should be taken with the goal of another championship run or two. Former player and new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. and head coach Steve Kerr have to chart the best course for the team going forward.
