Although Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving did not get selected for any of the All NBA team, Jalen Rose surely thought otherwise. Safe to say, his take might have surprised many analysts and reporters. One of which was sports media personality, Stephen A Smith couldn’t control his shock as he questioned Kyrie’s selection.
The NBA countdown show had quite a moment as Stephen A Smith was animated while questioning how Kyrie Irving got votes for to the All-NBA team. He went on to challenge the decision and further added that the Nets star guard shall not be even in the All G league team – as he never played there too. Smith was agitated with the decision and fired back at Jalen Rose who revealed his voting for Kyrie, surprising Smith who shouted “what” to the roofs of the building in disbelief.
An incensed Stephen A. Smith made Jalen Rose explain why he would never even put Kyrie Irving on the All-NBA 3rd team and then made him feel bad for his actions – reminding him of his previous words for the Nets Superstar and his playing situations.
Stephen A Smith questions Jalen Rose’s for selecting Kyrie Irving in any All-NBA-Team
NBA revealed All NBA teams and the top 15 players performing in the regular season got the nod for the top 3 selected teams. Giannis Antetokounmpo remained the top pick with all 100 votings him as 1st team forward player. 1st team comprises of Luka Doncic (G), Devin Booker (G), Jason Tatum (F), Giannis Antetokounmpo (F), and Nikola Jokic (C). This is the first time that all the 1st team members are aged below 27, indicating the huge potential and talent of the upcoming generation of players.

Coming back to Kyrie Irving getting votes, the Nets star couldn’t appear on any of the All NBA teams, but Jalen Rose accepted that he was the sole voter for the former NBA Champion and placed him on The NBA 3rd team. Shocked by the selection, Stephen A Smith requested Rose to explain his “actions”.
Smiling at his own actions, Rose said that though Kyrie played only limited games in the regular season, he was instrumental in those games. He was the dominant driving force for Brooklyn Nets and deserved recognition for that, but said it was a mistake.
ESPN’s sports analyst Smith reminded Rose about his earlier words regarding Irving. He said, “1st of all nobody is questioning Kyrie Irving as a talent, we know he is a box office. Not only me, but you stating his lack of availability, his unwillingness to take one for the team, and then behind our back like a sniper at night you slide a bullet for him?”
As long as it was a friendly teaser for Jalen’s actions, Rose accepted the fault and owned it. While there are many views regarding the selected 15 players and their positions, Kyrie may be the only player who had a sole vote in the selection process and is not discussed in many shows.
