“I wish I had one of those” Anthony Davis desperately wishes to have a tribute video from his former team after witnessing the Spurs pay ultimate respect

“I wish I had one of those” Anthony Davis desperately wishes to have a tribute video from his former team after witnessing the Spurs pay ultimate respect

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis expressed a willingness for a tribute video in New Orleans after witnessing his teammate receive one upon his return to San Antonio. It would be simple to understand why the Pelicans may have hatred against Davis given how their relationship ended. The reason for their rocky relationship, where he didn’t even get a warm welcome in New Orleans, was his trade to the Lakers.

After being selected first overall, AD spent the first seven seasons of his career with the New Orleans Pelicans. By the time he was traded, they had never consistently been able to surround the big guy with a strong squad. The Pelicans have done well for themselves and have assembled a great squad, but Davis demanding a trade out has many people feeling unsatisfied.

Davis is not well-remembered by many Pelicans supporters, which is surprising considering that he was an All-Star with the team six times and helped them maintain relevance year after year. As many teams do for their former players, the organization must feel similarly because they never sent him a tribute video upon his return, and it appears Davis has long been aware of that.

In the post-game interview, Davis mentioned how Lonnie Walker has been an excellent addition on both sides of the floor and expressed his want to get a similar tribute to the one he got before the game. He said: “He been unbelievable for us on both ends of the floor, came out hot. Obviously, first time back at home. Probably a little emotion for him gave him a tribute. Wish I had one of those.”

Anthony Davis and his struggles in the past few seasons

The 2021–22 season proved challenging for Anthony Davis. Despite the team’s hopes that adding Russell Westbrook would relieve AD and Bron of a portion of their tasks, it didn’t work out. AD, on the other hand, had a bad season and continued to be injured. Many people assumed that Davis was no longer a star after this season given his performance.

In the 72 games of the 2020–21 season that followed the bubble championship, Davis played in 36 of them. Sadly, this trend continued in 2021–22, when the eight-time All-Star participated in 40 of the team’s 82 contests.

In the first 18 games last season, Davis shot 52.2 percent from the floor and had averages of 24.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocked shots. The big man played just three more games in early April after suffering two injuries earlier in the season that caused him to miss a number of games, and then he missed the final three regular-season games.

Los Angeles was eliminated from contention for a spot in the play-in tournament. In 40 games during the 2021–22 season, AD only averaged 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.

Anthony Davis aiming for the MVP this season?

Averaging 26.3 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game is Anthony Davis. With a field goal percentage of 57%, efficiency is present as well. Los Angeles is probably going to be able to make the playoffs with the kind of dominance that Davis has provided the Lakers. AD recently played for the Lakers against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 25 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in just 35 minutes.

With five of their six victories taken into account, the Lakers are now significantly better, sitting at 7-11, so things are looking up. If he leads his franchise into the playoffs, Davis, who has averaged 35.5 points and 18.2 rebounds over his last four games, might be a contender for the MVP award.
