Los Angeles Lakers’ hopes to make it to the playoffs this season. They suffered another setback as they may have lost Anthony Davis indefinitely due to a foot injury against the Denver Nuggets. Following the injury, the forward was taken off the court and didn’t return to complete the game. Thus fueling speculations about his injury and his possible absence from the Lakers camp. In the first quarter, Davis seemed to suffer a right foot injury, but he seemed to play on despite it. After the halftime break, however, he didn’t emerge from the locker room.

With just 17 minutes of game time, Anthony Davis finished the night with 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. The Lakers started the second half without AD, and Thomas Bryant replaced him. Without a superstar forward, the Lakers were led by LeBron James and Russell Westbrook. Fans and commentators were disappointed with AD’s constant run-ins with the injuries, here are some reactions from the fans:

Davis‘ performance over the past month has given Laker Nation hope that the purple and gold might actually have a shot at the playoffs. He has been playing so brilliantly lately that the topic of MVP has recently come up. However, the LA Lakers will be desperately searching for methods to contend as Anthony Davis is currently injured once more. They have never been a playoff-caliber team when AD is absent or unengaged.

Anthony Davis will likely get an MRI after feeling pain in his right foot. This season, Davis has lost time due to flu-like symptoms, lower back tightness and a left calf contusion, but he is no stranger to injuries. Just 40 games were played with him last year, and 36 in 2020–21. Since his entry into the league as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA draught, the 29-year-old has just twice achieved the 70-game threshold and has never played more than 75 games in a season.

This hasn’t prevented him from amassing a resume that features a championship, four All-NBA selections, eight All-Star berths, three block titles and a spot on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. The Lakers are in bad shape whether Davis is down for a few games, a few weeks or a month. They have merely improved as a result of continually centering their offensive strategies around the power forward.

They will have to rely on LeBron James and Russell Westbrook to perform the tasks they were unable to do last season without him. As AD was dominating opponents on both ends of the floor and when their shooting slowly improved, the Lakers were seen as a force to reckon with. No team, not even the renowned Milwaukee Bucks frontline of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez, had a defense for Anthony Davis.
