Anthony Davis Update on Return: When can the Los Angeles Lakers expect AD back and balling out?

Anthony Davis had only struggled to keep himself healthy to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers. All LA longs for is a title that would solidify their name as the greatest franchise in the NBA and obviously add on to the possibility of LeBron James being dubbed the greatest player of all time. But AD’s availability has crippled the progress towards these goals.

Their championship season back in 2020 was the last time Anthony Davis played more than 50 games. He was on pace to have a better offensive and defensive season than the 2019-2020 season but during mid-December, the grim reaper of injuries found its presence in Davis’ career once again. He has been out since December 16.

After a solid month of rehab, the former champion will most likely make a comeback by the end of January. Dave McMenamin, ESPN’s main follower of the Lakers confirmed that Anthony Davis is expected to start preparing more for his return over the coming days. He was diagnosed with a stress injury in the right foot which caused the setback last month.

McMenamin said, “(The ramp up will) involve aquatic pool workouts and running on an altered-gravity treadmill to keep the big man’s full weight off his foot while it continues to heal.” Davis has to pay more attention to himself on the court and avoid being careless in movement. He is a very dominant player on the court who utilizes a lot of power within the paint, where most of his injuries have taken place.

Anthony Davis is certainly a very important piece on the Lakers roster and even carries the team on the defensive end. In his absence, the Lakers won over 45% of games played going 7-8. This run even included a brief five-game win streak led by none other than LeBron James.

Another player that stepped up during this time was Thomas Bryant. He was a major contributor to the win streak they had going on putting up 16.8 points during that stretch. Even King James was impressed by the youngster’s performances hinting that the Lakers could be a threat with Thomas Bryant and Anthony Davis running the backcourt. Bryant is also very good at grabbing rebounds which is very essential in their case.
