The Minnesota Timberwolves had a disappointing season, to say the least, and Anthony Edwards wants to do something about it. Edwards, who, according to President Tim Connelly, is bound to be the future cornerstone of the Timberwolves, was lately the man in focus. The Timberwolves, a squad with the likes of Karl Anthony-Towns and Rudy Gobert, are planning to focus on Edwards. His future is poised to be a deciding factor for the Timberwolves, who selected him with the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Edwards is eager to put in the same amount of effort as the squad to help them improve their place next season. The strategies he described are mostly focused on his growth as the best version of himself. Edwards intends to make more overseas visits for the same purpose, including one to train with the big man, Rudy Gobert. In an interview with the StarTribune, Edwards discussed his chemistry with Gobert. He also discussed his developmental tactics, which included Gobert.

Anthony Edwards expressed his admiration for Rudy and their strong rapport. He stated, “Man, I love Rudy. Me and Rudy got a great understanding.” Edwards added, ”We talk all the time, and I think he can get a lot better as far as catching the ball, jump hooking. I tell him all the time, like ‘Rudy, I’m [going to] throw you the ball every time. I want you to jump hook or money dunk on somebody.” To which Gobert replies, “I got you.”

Edwards then spoke about making a trip to France at some point to work with Gobert. While Edwards admits that the flight tickets aren’t booked yet, he also said, “Rudy is gonna pay for everything… He got all the money.”

Anthony Edwards’ plan for the Timberwolves’ revival revolves around his personal development alongside Towns and Gobert. While talking about Gobert, he said, “He told me to trust him. And I started trusting him and giving it to him and he’s making the right play. Shout-out to him, he kept making the right play in the pocket whether he was finishing or kicking it out. I trust him.” Edwards highlighted that there is nothing wrong between him and Gobert, signaling their chemistry is on point.

Edwards also spoke about how he looks forward to supporting the big-man duo of Towns and Gobert next season. While Edwards has admitted that he wants to surpass Michael Jordan’s legacy, it is a far-fetched goal at this point. Edwards and the Timberwolves are far from even being on course to get to the level of MJ or the Chicago Bulls in the 90s.

The Timberwolves’ season came to a drastic end in Round 1 of the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic, cruised past the Wolves 4-1. The #8 seed Wolves ended their season on a terrible note, yet Edwards has high hopes for the team next season. What will the team change? What developments will Anthony Edwards bring to his game? These are all the questions which will be answered next season.
