“They give him every f**king call, they set illegal screens for him the entire game,” Austin Rivers drops major ACCUSATIONS regarding league’s leniency towards Stephen Curry and the Warriors
Austin Rivers says guarding Stephen Curry is the hardest player to guard in the NBA. He also said that the refs favor Curry on every play.

Austin Rivers and Stephen CurryA
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Austin Rivers recently said that the Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is the hardest player to guard in the NBA. However, his comments were not directed as a compliment but rather a shot at the All-Star player. Rivers said that Curry is heavily favored by the referees and the league has also not paid enough attention to that. But that was not all that Rivers said. He also complimented the guard for his worldly handles and the dangers he poses on the offensive end.
While speaking of the reigning Finals MVP on his Ringer podcast, Rivers said that Steph is the hardest player to guard. “Steph… It’s not even close,” Rivers said. “He doesn’t stop moving. He’s more dangerous when he gives up the ball than when he has it. … He has a handle, and he can shoot,” he said. However, Rivers also added that it is impossible to touch him because he gets every single call on the court. “You can’t touch him. They give him every f—ing call,” he added.
Rivers might be right in a certain sense but there is no denying the fact that he is also the greatest shooter in basketball history. Austin is right in pointing out that Curry is dangerous without the ball in his hand. He is a master at creating confusion for the defense. His ability to move without the ball can frustrate the opponents easily. He can shoot from any position. Additionally, the league has made rules that are more favorable to offensive players.
Austin Rivers says that Draymond Green sets illegal screens for Stephen Curry

Speaking of the Warriors‘ style of basketball, the basketball star said that players set illegal screens for Curry. He pointed out Draymond Green sets illegal screens but refs don’t call it because it serves basketball. “They set illegal screens for him the entire game. Draymond [Green], he’s going to set illegal screens. They don’t call it because they want to see him shoot. It’s good for basketball,” he said. It’s good for the NBA…good for ratings. You want to see this guy shoot as many threes as possible,” he pointed out.
Rivers is right in pointing out the frustration of every defender. However, he is not entirely right and off the mark in saying that Curry gets every call on the court. According to the data only 26 players have averaged over 24 points in their careers. Among those 26 players, Steph averages the fewest free throws (4.3) per game. In his best season of free throws, he has averaged 6.3 free throws, which is also the lowest among the players.
