“Believe when I see it” – NBA Twitter bounces back to Ben Simmons’ ROAST, troll his potential return as an All-star
Ben Simmons got slammed by NBA Fans after reports claimed that he is back to his All-star form
Ben Simmons
Ben Simmons has been out of NBA action since February, and his Brooklyn Nets career has not been as fruitful as he would have liked, with NBA Fans roasting him after an attempt at a comeback. According to the New York Post, Ben Simmons is unlikely to have another back surgery after significant improvement during his rehab. Simmons has been away from the Brooklyn Nets during their playoff run against the Philadelphia 76ers.
“The evaluation is a normal evaluation, though, nothing extreme, just kind of monitoring his progress, and surgery is not in the realm of expectations for him,” a source told the New York Post. This news breaking before the June draught and free agency is crucial in timing for Nets general manager Sean Marks’ planning. Simmons has averaged only seven points and six rebounds this season for the Brooklyn Nets.
“There is a lot of belief in him being able to return to his All-Star form,” said another source to the New York Post. Simmons was last an NBA All-star in 2020/21 when he averaged 14 points and seven rebounds a game for the Philadelphia 76ers as as the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Simmons regression has stemmed from suffering a back injury in March 2021.
NBA Twitter has no belief in Ben Simmons to return to All-star form
Simmons has been the butt of every joke in the NBA after his playoff meltdown against the Atlanta Hawks in the 2021 Eastern Conference semi-finals. The 3x All-star passed up an open dunk over Trae Young in the dying minutes of Game 7. The Sixers went on to lose the game, and since then, Simmons has never reached his all-star level again.
NBA fans have no faith in Simmons’s return; one fan said – “At this point, he should have just stayed in college.” Simmons was one of the premier college basketball players, so he was selected #1 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. Simmons missed the 2021–22 season with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets due to back problems and mental health difficulties.
“Haha, I feel like I have heard this before. Fool me once….” said another fan on Twitter. Simmons’s underwhelming performance on the Sixers and the Nets in the last two seasons has contributed heavily to his image among NBA fans. The New York Post reports are positive, but some fans need to see it to believe it and Simmons has not shown anything yet.
