Ben Simmons finally breaks silence on worldwide criticism including NBA legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley
Ben Simmons breaks silence on criticism
Ben Simmons had been a benchwarmer for the Brooklyn Nets after being riddled with persistent back issues. The former Philadelphia 76ers point guard underwent successful surgery on his back. Brooklyn Nets announced that Simmons is anticipated to make full recovery before the start of next season’s training camp. The Aussie, who landed in Brooklyn in a staggering trade, has dealt with back issues throughout his professional career. He was scheduled to make his debut with the Nets in the playoffs. However, Nets fans did not get to witness their new star in action this season.
He was poised to start in Game 4 of the Nets-Celtics playoffs series, but he opted out due to back soreness. Ultimately, the Brooklyn Nets had their feet swept from beneath them in the first round after being unable to withstand the Boston Celtics’ bolstered physical defense combined with a well-rounded offensive attack. After acquiring the ‘Big 3’ in the league, the Brooklyn Nets never got going this season. Fair to say, the Nets will make a lot of adjustments this summer, under a new system, roles being filled for KD, Kyrie, and Simmons, better depth and size, and just consistency and culture.
Ben Simmons underwent successful surgery on his back
Be Simmons has hopefully bid goodbye to his back problems as he underwent successful surgery in Los Angeles. It’s difficult to register that Simmons went from feeling healthy and hinting at his comeback to being unable to play. But, perhaps this back issue is genuinely a concern.
Prior to this season, Shaquille O’Neal raged out at Simmons for his irrational conduct with the Philadelphia 76ers. O’Neal roasted Ben for not taking the criticism to improve his game and leaving Joel Embiid to carry the 76ers. Apparently, Simmons was unhappy with O’Neal’s word and sent him a direct message. On the show ‘The Odd Couple’, the breaking news of Nets superstar Ben Simmons needing to undergo surgery for a herniated disk in his back, shocked a lot of panelists.
Rob Parker thinks NBA analysts like Shaquille O’Neal and Reggie Miller were too critical of Simmons and says while Simmons might give you a bunch of reasons not to like him, you can’t medically evaluate anybody from your couch and he deserves an apology!
Following his surgery on Thursday, the former LSU superstar shared a photo on Instagram. “Surgery went well thank you for the well wishes,” Simmons wrote. Ben Simmons has been under the radar of multiple critics throughout the entire season, condemned for how he handled his complications with the Philadelphia 76ers.
He was ultimately traded to the Brooklyn Nets, where he is yet to play a single game despite passing the physicals. The Nets helped him, got him in shape, guided him through recovery and conditioning. We all hope for Ben Simmons to return to the court as early as possible and color the court with his vibrant gameplay.
