Steve Kerr was undoubtedly the most disturbed personnel in the initial minutes of Game 2 vs when Grizzlies’ marquee Dillon brooks decided to shove Gary Payton II from behind, only to rule him out of the remainder of the series. With Payton fracturing his left elbow, Kerr could not help but call out Brooks for his ‘dirty’ play.

The physicality was on show in Game 2 as even Draymond Green made his way into the locker room after a thumping on his face. Now, as things move to Steve Kerr’s back yard with 1-1, the Golden State Warriors Coach has decided to reveal his team’s mantra, with the aim of throwing a major shade at ‘Villain’ Dillon Brooks.

“Just play hard. Battle for every loose ball, battle for every rebound, compete every possession. And, you know, don’t risk a guy’s career if he’s ahead of the play in transition. That’s our mantra.”

Safe to say Steve Kerr has every right to be angry though. Regardless of Dillon Brooks’ intentions, the guard made a reckless play at the ball against Gary Payton II.

There are plenty of ways to cleanly chase down a layup attempt without injuring your fellow player. Golden State Warriors fans know that all too well. Even Brooks’ own teammate Brandon Clarke said that he went way too hard at Payton.

That being said, Kerr needs to come up with a plan to stop Grizzlies marquee Ja Morant in the latter stages. With Payton out, Kerr would depend more upon his bench strength to answer up in regards to being more agile on the defensive ned. Stephen curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green surely would not want to lose a game at home, and trail as the stakes are pretty higher. Will the Warriors be able to return back at their best? Remains to be seen.
