“That’s a plan B because the Westbrook trade” Bill Simmons inside scoop on Lakers potentially giving up Anthony Davis due to TERRIBLE 2-8 start

Anthony Davis and Bill Simmons

American sports columnist Bill Simmons predicted that the Los Angeles Lakers might not make the playoffs this year seeing their terrible start to the season. And one of the reasons for that is their out-of-form star, Anthony Davis. He has performed below par this season, and no luck has gone his way.

Bill Simmons was talking in the latest episode of his podcast ‘The Ringer’, where he quoted, “There’s some buzzing that AD might be available. That’s a plan B because the Westbrook trade, or whatever they think they can get for Westbrook and whether you want to give up future assets, maybe that doesn’t even make sense ’cause what are you getting if you’re the Lakers?”

Bill further added, “We’ve got Davis here, who I don’t think has looked the same for a couple years, certainly not close to bubble Davis. That’s the last time we saw vintage 2018 Pelicans-level Davis.” Anthony’s consistently poor performance can see the Lakers trading him soon.

Will Anthony Davis be traded off by the Los Angeles Lakers?

The LA Lakers star player Anthony has not been performing up to the mark since injuries have gathered around him. The Lakers have won only two of the ten games they played so far this season. Anthony also forms the superstar duo with NBA legend LeBron James. He has been a vital cog for the Lakers since he joined the franchise but hasn’t been able to deliver for them on the court.

Davis is currently averaging 23.2 points, 10.3 boards, 2.0 blocks and 1.6 steals per game playing 34.6 minutes this season. He was the pioneer when the LA Lakers won the championship in 2020. Moreover, he is only one of the six players to average 20-plus PPG, 7.5-plus RPG and 1.5-plus BPG in the nine seasons he played. The other greats on the list are Shaquille O’Neal, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Tim Duncan.

Experts have given out contrasting views when the news of Davis might be traded off surfaced. Some believe that Russell Westbrook should be traded instead of Davis. However, whether traded or not it’s high time Anthony delivers a series of power-packed performances to silence his critics and prove to the world that he still has much fuel left in the tank.
