Billionaire Michael Jordan rejected $1 million from ‘Beanee Weenees’ only because he didn’t like their name
Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan’s success was never limited to the basketball court. He has done everything he can from day one to outshine the rest of the crowd and it has worked for him. As everyone once really wanted to be like Mike and to this day that’s the reality. He’s one of the best ever to set a foot on the court or touch a basketball. He’s even regarded as the G.O.A.T by most of the fans around. Michael Jordan though never limited himself and most of the time was seen making the correct decisions on and off the court from his league contracts to endorsements.
Michael Jordan is a Billionaire and most of that wealth is generated from his off-court deals and endorsements. As everyone loved him and he was the main guy in the league who even boosted the league up to many different countries. So it’s fair to say that he’s not just an athlete but also a businessman as he has the bag and did the chase on the right road with perfect decisions. Now he’s also a great investor as he is using his money wisely and adding more to it in the best way possible.
Some of the companies which signed Michael Jordan for endorsement deals are Nike, Gatorade, Chevrolet, McDonald’s, Ball Park Franks, Rayovac, Wheaties, Hanes, Upper Deck and many others. Aside from these companies he has also acted in movies which brought in the bag and also the fame for him. Many were aware of the deals which MJ agreed to but not many know the stories behind the deals he rejected, one such is about ‘Beanee Weenees’ beans.

Michael Jordan rejects the million dollar offer from Beanee Weenees
The main reason Michael Jordan rejected this million dollar deal was him not being a fan of the name of the company. As in an interview with Playboy when he was asked about the endorsements he turned down he quoted: “Two or three years ago (late 80s) Quaker Oats came to me to endorse Van Kamp’s pork and beans—Beanee Weenees, I think it was called. You ever heard of Beanee Weenees pork and beans? It was close to a million bucks a year. I’m saying, Beanee Weenees? How can I stand in front of a camera and say I’ll eat Beanee Weenees? If I wanted to be a hard-nosed businessman, I could have been in a lot of deals…”
Michael Jordan only endorses the products he likes and personally uses so he had a good reason to turn that deal down and he did no wrong in it. So it was just the name who got the deal broken and not MJ. As someone who goes by the name of Black Jesus and Black Cat won’t really look good endorsing that product on the national television.
