BREAKING: Brooklyn Nets appoint Jacque Vaughn as interim head coach following Steve Nash’s shocking dismissal

News broke out after the Brooklyn Nets announced they parted ways with Steve Nash. The NBA star turned coach was claimed to be one of the biggest issues surrounding the team’s never-ending failure. It turns out that the team is currently focused on building a stronger base.
NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news via Twitter claiming that the decision was also mutual. The Nets had an awful start to their season despite having a completely abled roster. Ben Simmons also made his official debut this season but the team simply lacked leadership. Nash was expected to fill the void but his efforts hardly reflected in their current 2-5 record in the Eastern Conference.
Woj also reported that interim coach Jacque Vaughn will take up the role of an acting coach while the Nets sort out negotiations for hiring a new team head. Vaughn has been an assistant coach for the Nets since 2016 and also has experience in this situation.
General Manager Sean Marks’ had his statement released via the NBA’s official website. He said, “Steve was faced with a number of unprecedented challenges,” ever since taking up the role of head coach. However, Jacque Vaughn will be present as the Nets’ coach in their upcoming home game against the Chicago Bulls.
Brooklyn Nets scout for potential head coaches
The Brooklyn Nets’ move to release Nash at this point of the season was a smart move. Woj tweeted, “Suspended Celtics coach Ime Udoka has emerged as the likely next Brooklyn Nets head coach and his hiring could be finalized as soon as the next 24-to-48 hours, sources tell ESPN. Celtics will let him leave for another job.”
Ime Udoka helped lead the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals last season. They also emerged as one of the top defensive teams in the league. Udoka could help revive the Nets’ defense and mentor former DPOY candidate Ben Simmons.
Wojnarowski’s earlier tweet on Vaughn also stated that former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder is also a potential candidate to replace Nash. Snyder helped the Jazz achieve some of their best conference records in recent years before resigning earlier in June.
