“Been caged for five hours” Brittney Griner’s case could only be a SHOW TRAIL in Russia
Brittney Griner has been suffering under the custody of the Russian Federating. There has been very little leads on how she is being treated by the authorities in charge and several have started to believe that she is being held hostage to make the United State government serve to the Russian’s political requests. She has been under detention since February and it is said that she will be remain detained for six months further.
The WNBA star was arrested by the police after allegedly being caught for trying to bring Hashish oil through airport custom. The Soviet is strictly against the usage of such narcotics and suspects are usually sentenced to ten years in prison. She often travels to the country during her off-season in the US for sports purposes.
Brittney Griner is being used by Russia as a political pawn
Viktor Bout, an illegal Russian arms dealer imprisoned in the US is suspected to be a reason why Russia has not made a move towards Brittney Griner’s release. Joe Biden’s administration has been accused for giving up on the case as they have not made any sort of effort towards her release. Experts believe that Griner will mostly likely have to plead guilty in order to at least serve a shorter sentence.
Cherelle Griner (Brittney’s wife) claims that she has, “zero trust in the government, right now.” The Phoenix Mercury All-Star and her partner were supposed to celebrate their anniversary together to weeks ago and had an overseas call scheduled. The Russians claimed to have called over a dozen times but got no response from the US authorities, which shows they may not be interested in helping out as much.

The newly named honorary All-Star began her trial on Friday after being held up for over four long months. Experts claim that the trial is mostly likely a “show” and that a decision on the Brittney Griner case already has a decision made. This could even mean the Russian holding her hostage until the US makes an effort to meets their demands.
Cherelle told CNN that she had finally received a chance to talk to Brittney and she claims that she is exhausted of the way things are being handled in Russia. “So BG is having to travel over five hours round trip when she goes to court in a very, very, very tiny cage with her knees bent, feet up to the ground, because it’s not big enough for her to fit in.”
