“You’re playing with Kyrie and Simmons” Skip Bayless issues stern message to Kevin Durant, Nets amid fierce trade drama

If the Nets are unable to obtain the estimated trade value for their two-time champion, it may be a long season for Kevin Durant and everyone in Brooklyn. The future Hall of Famer and former league MVP made this very evident when, after just three seasons with the Nets, he sought a trade away from his current team, after him and Kyrie Irving  signed with them in the summer of 2019. It appears that the Nets will soon find a good trade agreement and, of course, a deal befitting of KD’s superstar status.

According to the veteran analyst Skip Bayless, Joseph C. Tsai should push for KD and Kyrie stay for at least another year, or until the duo’s contract expires. The renowned NBA expert claims that if it were up to him, he wouldn’t have allowed Durant to go so quickly. Skip essentially urges the Nets to capture Durant and keep him as a hostage.

Everyone in the Nets camp is still thinking about the James Harden scenario, even if it was less intense than most of these dramatic ones. Five months later, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, two more of their great offensive powerhouses, are in danger of leaving the team. The risky move that began in 2019 when they almost completely parted ways with their talented young team, which included Jarrett Allen, D’Angelo Russell, Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, and a few others, in order to form the best Big-3 since the Heat in 2010, ended with a first-round playoff exit in 2022.

The Nets have a trade request from The Slim Reaper and very obvious plans from Irving to take his abilities to the Lakers. This comes after the Nets previously traded the 2018 MVP James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers in February for Ben Simmons, who hasn’t even played a game since joining. They had been seen as a group that belonged in the title race. In his two seasons with the team, the Nets have only won one postseason series since Durant joined them in the summer of 2019 where he missed the following season due to injury. He enjoyed three consecutive trips to the Finals with the Golden State Warriors and won two NBA Championships before joining the Nets.

On Sunday night, Skip Bayless sent out a tweet about the Brooklyn Nets that is going viral on Twitter. The seasoned expert thinks that if he was running the Nets organization, he would insist that Kyrie and KD stay for at least another calendar year, until both of their contracts expire. Until Kyrie’s contract ends, he thinks the Nets should disregard these approaches from the duo and let them play. The Nets got swept in the first-round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics, which was a huge disappointment.

When the 2022–23 season begins, Durant’s four-year, $198 million contract will begin to take effect. After enduring his friend and teammate’s antics for the entirety of the previous season, the four-time scoring champion has had enough and immediately submitted a transfer request as soon as he noticed Irving debating signing his $36.9 million last year of contract.

Given that they are in their primes and who knows what the future may hold for them given the increasing competitiveness in the league and the ravages of time, both players will still give it their all to win a title if they stay.
